So I have buddy at work who has a Helwan Brigadier he said he'll sell me for $20. Problem is, it has the infamous broken locking block. I've searched the web high and low and I can't find any suitable replacement.

Anyone have any ideas/leads? If I can fix this, I think I can justify $20 ;)

Even if you can't it would be a neat paperweight for that investment!!!

For $20, it would be well worth the expense as a paperweight. I'd buy it just because...$20 is the new $5

Have you tried calling Beretta to ask if the M-9 locking block will fit?
You can also ask over on the Beretta Forum to see if anyone has an aftermarket source or a modification to the M-9 block

Helwan's are bad (bad!) quality knock-off's of the '51 Beretta. Still, $20 bucks...? Probably...

Funnel

I had one with a cracked block about 10 years ago. I think it STILL has a cracked block and is a non firing piece in someone else's hands now. Paperweight is probably a good analysis. I hesitated to buy a true Beretta 1951 just because the block on that MIGHT break, and then I'd have an EXPENSIVE paperweight.
