Whats the general opinion about Heritage revolvers? I think it would be fun to have a .22 LR revolver, especially since they're $139 and $179 at Academy.
I love mine, I have never had any problems at all. Not the best looking in the world but its alot of bang for the buck. My girlfriend's father has one also (which I borrowed, before I got mine) and he enjoys his also with no problems. The 22mag cylinder is fun to play with, I think it's a neat round. It has alot more boom w/o much more recoil. People who have never owned a Heritage will tell you to get a Single Six.
IMHO they're crap. I had a 4 3/4 fixed sight convertable that shot minute-of-barn at 10 yds. The magnums were actually slower than high velocity 22lr's too, not to mention even less accurate than the LR cylinder.
I bought mine for $90 new a couple of years ago and sold it to a pawn shop for $75 so i guess that was a redeeming feature. Besides that i wish i had bought something else.
yup, good guns for the money. i owned one and had no problems with it at all. i have since given it to my dad along with a henry lever action for him to plink with. i would however strongly recommend spending a little more for the adjustible sights model to help with the accuracy.
i like both the regular western grip models and the birds head models, check them both out see what you like. -Eric
Grant;
My Heritage looks like that of aaronrkelly above, except that I have the 9 inch barrel. I have fun with it at the plinking range. I go each month to watch the Cowboy Action Shooters at the military range out here in West Texas, and they use bigger calibres for bigger targets, but I like planning/making smaller 'action' type targets. I'm getting guns as budget allows, and am glad I chose the Heritage early on.
I saw on the Heritage web site that only certain models are steel frames. What are the others made of, aluminum? How could I tell if one were a steel frame or otherwise?
