History Channel's "Top Shot" on Sunday night

I like the show for what it has positiveness wise. I also like the competitions and the fact they use other than just firearms. I will say without bragging, if I was on that show I would be on top. Some of these guys aren't very good shooters when they are out of their realm of expertise for sure. Evenm when they are they can screw up like when the cowboy guy screwed the pootch in the SAA catagory.

The other drawback to Top Shot is it makes me want more projectile weapons, I now want an AR-15, a Kentucky long rifle and a crossbow.....

Then again, I've always admired crossbows from afar, I just don't have the disposable income at the moment

as far as the "Prairie Ninja" goes, he'll probably be the first one eliminated in the next event, he'll have to pack up his Tactical Conestoga Wagon and mosey on home

I firmly believe they didn't do it willingly, but his elimination challenge didn't quite go as fairly as it should have.

Instead of rehashing it here, I'll point to my posts on the matter:

Many others have weighed in on the issue also.

In my opinion, the producers can and should remedy that by inviting Jim back for the second series.
Wow. I had seen one of your prior posts but didn't read it in as much detail and think about it (I thought it was just bad luck that his plates lined up, and that Ian had the same chances). That is really messed up. I seriously doubt they did it on purpose, but at the minimum they overlooked a serious flaw in the setup.

I also thought it was extremely tacky of Colby to tell Jim that Ian just aced it. That wasn't necessary, and puts them on uneven footing.

whoever is in charge of the history channel has to change how they do the promo for the next episode -- it totally sucks and spoils the excitement when, before the elimination round, you see one of the two competitors prominently featured a number of times in next week's episode ;)

This weeks thoughts:
Kelly did phenomenal as usual!
Finally the worst shot gets eliminated
JJ is definitely the best under pressure
Adam can't through a knife to save his life
I felt bad for Tara
Once again they showed the winner of the elimination in the preview for next week

My kid saw parts and is trying to drive steel into a round in the backyard as we speak. I only have 2 throwing knives, and am just hoping she keeps all the throwsj in the carport.

am fully caught up now, it's a much better show when you can fast forward the drama.

Side note, caught the trick shooting finally and was brimming with glee to see them shooting my Model 10 and the Schofield side by side.

Yep some one has really dropped the ball on that. They build up to the elimination challenge and then show you the promo for next week's episode with one of the guy's that's about to do this week's elimination. LOL

I just saw about 20 min of this show today before going to bed, parts of it seemed kind of stupid as with any TV show but I set my DVR to record it anyways. Neat to watch all those exploding targets and slow motion shots in HD! I'll have to watch some more when I have time to see if it lives up to this hype...

I always wondered how Kenny made it so long. Nothing against him because he has a great TV or film presence. The Caleb thing kind of bothered me on the previous Week's episode. It seemed like he was railroaded and was pure TV drama. I would have dumped the other guy in a heart beat. He also wasn't too talented in the knife throwing show.

Kelly is pretty amazing and a very quick study in whatever skill is involved.

Throwing knives and slingshots, good grief.

Interesting to see Chief A.J., though. I remember when he offered some of the first customized Ruger 10-22s from the Tribal Workshops.

Denny should have been gone a few shows ago, so it's fitting that Peter won that challenge. Kelly and JJ again come through.

Chief AJ was a trip. He acted like he might have hit the "peace pipe" before the show was taped, but he was sure having fun. Peter couldn't stop laughing at him in the elimination practice.

Sad to see Tara go the way she did, but she made the right decision. Family first.

I think it's going to come down to JJ, Ian, and Kelly. Maybe throw Blake in the mix too, but my money is on one of those 3 to win it all, and my front-runner is JJ.

Having one parent die while I was away and having spent the final days with the other I very much respect Tara's decision. I hope the producers find a way to put her back in this cycle, but at least next year.

I'm also happy to see the teams combined so that no one gets a free ride through a competition stage.

I'm just wondering how next week is going to turn out. I have to make my video for my application tonight, wish me luck!

Week after week Kelly performs when it looks bad for his team, or himself. I think the best end match would be JJ and Kelly. Both have shown a lot of skill on the field, as well as a lot of class off the field. Both represent the sport well.

I'd like to see Tara get another shot as well. She made the right decision.

Not even close. I would say the original "642 Club" thread was the largest. The current "642 Club" thread is well over 3,000 posts.

I also agree with Tara's decision to leave. I might not have done it myself but I may have regretted it if in fact my Father died because I didn't go when I knew I should or could.

The other side to that is that I was not present when either of my parents passed away and I don't really regret my decision. It is a personal choice at the time based circumstances which should not need to be explained to anyone other than yourself. It is a tough call and I think these things are often different for men versus women.

Yeah, the competitions they had lined up for next week looked pretty cool. More of that, less of the "rat-fink", and they'll bring in MUCH more of the shooting community as viewers.

I had not read Tara's bio until I checked out the website to see if there was a place to sign a sympathy card, but dang that girl has some shooting credibility. She could easily win the thing, next year. Yes, there are a lot of folks petitioning the show to have her back.

Full Name: Tara Poremba
Age: 36
Hometown: Chicago, IL
Occupation: Police Officer

After six years in the Marines Corps Reserve, Tara became the first female in the history of the Chicago Police Department to become "Top Gun" of her graduating class and was awarded "Top Gun" of the FBI Firearms Instructor School. A High Woman's State Champ in several states in Conventional Pistol, and a former National Champion, she earned her Distinguished Pistol Badge from the Civilian Marksmanship program and the President's 100 Award at the Nationals at Camp Perry.
