Has anyone seen the "new" Brinks Home Security Ads on TV lately?? Just throwing it out there for general discussion, but IMHO they make me absolutely LIVID. Don't get me wrong, I think home security systems are a good thing, but what about the most obvious choice. A LAW ABIDING CITIZEN PROTECTING HIS/HER HOME WITH A FIREARM (or a shovel, or a bat, or whatever for that matter)!!! No pun intended, but I'm kind of shooting from the hip here and it's just my opinion but.....has this country really become so bubble wrapped that people can't even conceptualize "self preservation" any more? Have we really gone that soft? What?....and bank on Brinks to "protect me". :banghead:

This is the gist of it.......Mom and Dad leave for the evening, the daughter anxiously getting them out the door for the night out, and she is left at the house by herself. Daughter makes her way back into the house and hears the door handle rattle. She says something to the effect of "Oh..what did they forget" and heads back to the door. Just then the door gets kicked open and the alarm system goes off. A very suprised bruiser standing in the door now face to face with a terrified young girl (good effective acting) The girl is scared half to death and the intruder takes off down the street having been "scared away" by the siren. Does anyone see the problem here like I do??

Ok, great for TV but what if this were YOUR house or YOUR daughter!! The next scene shows a Brinks operator calling the house saying "Is everything ok?" She says "no....someone just tried to break in" (TRIED to break in??? He DID break in). He replies by saying "Help is on the way....I'M CALLING YOUR PARENTS RIGHT NOW". Ummm....what about the police, and even then, what about protecting yourself. Mom and dad, AND the police aren't going to instantly be there. I'm not knocking the cops either (I am one). But as an example....I cover 100 sq/mi. BY MYSELF and I can't be everywhere at once.

Brinks is very obviously using the fear factor to sell, sell, sell. Afterall, that IS the business they are in. I'm just really miffed about the whole ad campaign and I can't really put a finger on why........any thoughts??

--Why can't Bushmaster, Remington, Springfield, etc. etc. have adds like that?? (rhetorical question). This post may get moved or locked up, but I just wanted to throw it out to the crew for discussion.
