Hi folks,

If anybody is bored at some point during their "social distancing" has some lying around......

Could somebody please post some length measurements for the following bullets?

Hornady 124 Gr. XTP
RMR 124 Gr. MPR (JHP)

I'm just looking to run the numbers on some COAL's while waiting for bullets, and realized I dont have any of the 124 gr. Stuff to measure.

Thanks very very much!

I'm pretty sure this is a Hornady 124gr XTP and it is .544". The reason I say this is because I have some stray Precision Delta laying around here and their hard to tell apart from Hornady until you have them side by side. But I'm fairly certain the one I measured is a Hornady. .544"
MPR 124gr is .549"

Awesome - thanks a lot!

Interesting though - I expected the RMR's to be a bit shorter than the Hornady since the Hornady is so "pointy"... (i.e. the weight has to be somewhere, and if it isn't in the tip, it should be longer). Can't argue with the calipers though :)

Thanks again!

The measurements I got are;
RMR 124 gr. JHP Match, .557" OAL, bearing surface lg. .285", 15 degree angle, 30 degree included angle.
Hornady 124 gr. XTP, .578" OAL, bearing surface lg. .293", 14 degree angle, 28 degree included angle.

These were measured on a comparator a couple months back.

the .544" sounds like the Hornady 115 XTP. My 115 XTPs measure 0.545 and my 124 XTPs measure .573".

my RMR 124 MP JHPs measure 0.548".

My 115gr XTP's come in around .545 to .546 as well. I know RMR changed up their MPR's a while back - perhaps Hornady made some changes at some point too?

Thanks!

Harriw, go by their measurements for the Hornady, not mine. I bought some seconds quite a while ago and these must be some of them.
This bullet mics at .355, weighs 124gr and has a cannular, must have been somebody's boo boo when they were made.
I'll remark these for 9mm and use them up to get rid of them.
Thanks everyone for catching that.

Maybe it was a special run for the 9mm Federal cartridge. :D

Hornady 124 Gr. XTP
RMR 124 Gr. MPR (JHP)
Hornady 124gr XTP and it is .544" ... MPR 124gr is .549"
Hornady 124 gr. XTP, .578" ... RMR 124 gr. JHP .557"
Hornady 124 XTPs .573" ... RMR 124 MP JHPs 0.548"
How about this?

Select bullet diameter and listing of bullet manufacturers show bullet lengths/SD/BC - http://www.shootforum.com/forum/bulletdb.html
  • 0.355" Hornady HP/XTP (35540) 115 gr Length 0.545"
  • 0.355" Hornady HP/XTP (35571) 124 gr Length 0.576"
And this for RMR 124 gr MPR.

Did RMR rename the MPR from something else? I had some of their 124gr "Hardcore Match" HPs awhile back that averaged .559". Very close to the MPRs in the pic.

As far as I know, RMR initially produced 124 gr JHP that was similar to Speer Gold Dot HP profile but came up with new MPR (Multi Purpose Round) similar to FMJ/RN profile with longer bullet base (bearing surface) to work with .357 Sig also (Compare the bullet base length in above picture)

FYI, I verified my Brown & Sharpe micrometer, Frankford Arsenal dial calipers and Harbor Freight digital calipers with .355" pin gage and they measured .523" length bullet the same.

Measured 20 RMR 124 gr MPR and they ranged from .554" to .558" with most measuring .555"-.557"

Measured 10 RMR 115 gr MPR and they ranged from .523" to .524"

These are the current "new production" bought less than 6 months ago after RMR/Jake made some bullet construction enhancements to make the bullets more consistent like increasing copper foldover of lead base - https://www.thehighroad.org/index.p...-match-ammunition.854750/page-2#post-11204660

I'm just looking to run the numbers on some COAL's while waiting for bullets, and realized I dont have any of the 124 gr. Stuff to measure.
BTW, at that time, I bought samples of every 95 gr to 147 gr in-house manufactured bullets (current production post bullet construction enhancements) so if you need additional measurements, let me know.

Howdy folks,

Sorry to necro an old thread, but I have an update I thought might be useful for others. I'm sure you're all aware that RMR (along with every other firearms-related business) has been slammed lately. I just recieved my order for 124Gr and 115Gr MPR's placed back when we were talking about this, and measured some of the 124Gr. bullets while doing my plunk tests. I grabbed 10 bullets from a 1k bag, and found them to be a bit shorter than what you were all measuring a few months ago. Here's what I got:

0.549"
0.548"
0.548"
0.547"
0.547"
0.549"
0.547"
0.547"
0.549"
0.549"

Avg: 0.548"

So they appear to be about 0.010" shorter than what most of you were finding 2 months ago. I did weight them all and they're all coming out just a hair under 124Gr (I didn't write them all down, but I'd guestimate the average to be around 123.4ish Gr.). I'm sure they'll shoot just fine and have no complaints or concerns, just wanted to let you know they seem to be coming in slightly under-sized.

Thanks again for all your help!
