are the rubber and wood wood grips from houge n frame square butt the same size and shape. my 29-4 came back and after 60 rds so far appears to be fixed.

would like to change out the factory grips. i'm sure the rubber grips will allow me to shoot it better compared to the stock grips but would like to get the wood for aesthetics. it is 8 3/8 so is nose heavy will the checkered wood houge grip perform similarly to the less attractive rubber.

I dunno. My 4, 6 and 8 3/8" N frames (all 629-3 or older) wore Hogue rubber grips.
As did my Python.
:)

The rubber grips may not look good, but they don't let the gun slip either.
That might help your shooting, might also rub your hide after a while.

No big deal, your skin will toughen up quick enough.

i like the monogrip on my super redhawk and i put on the hogue rubber grips on my 586 classic series as the stock grips while pretty were too thin at the top.

the rubber grips will likely work for me but if the nice wood grip would work just as well then I'd rather get that as it would dress up the gun.

i got excited and just went ahead and ordered the checkered wood grips from hogue
i like the rubber grips from them so hopefully the wood grips will be similar. i like how they fill out the space behind the trigger guard. i shot the same loads in my SRH with the monogrip in the classic hunter 8 3/8 model 29. the smith feels heavier and is nose heavy and yet the recoil seems stronger in the smith.. maybe the additional barrel inch is a slight factor but it's mainly the grip.

If you got the Tamer for the SRH, the standard monogrip is going to be thinner. The Tamer is not bad but I can't use the monogrip at all. They're too thin, the ambidextrous palm swell sucks and I hate fingergrooves.

maybe i do have the tamer on my srh. i hope the wood grips won't be too thin. smooth looks nicer and cheaper too but worried about the gun moving too much.
