How about this on a shotgun?

I saw this thread on the Rifle forum, and found the concept very interesting. It describes the Steadyhold forward vertical grip, pictured below, which attaches to a rifle stock via the sling swivel.

The question in my mind is: how would one of these work with a semi-auto shotgun? (Obviously you couldn't use one on a pumpgun! ) Would it give greater versatility when bird- or game-hunting? Opinions, please!

Foreward hand would be TOO forward IMO to effectivly swing and control SG.

Nope. Here's why....

Most shotguns are shot at fast moving things. Most rifles aren't. The Brits in their heyday evolved that straight grip and splinter forend on their doubles to A, keep the hands in the same plane and B, to keep them as close to the eye as possible.

While good work is done with other styles of shotguns at other game and games, a good shot with an English style SxS is amazingly deadly on small, fast birds.

This device moves things the opposite way. It may work well on rifles, but since the benchrest guys do not use it, that's also doubtful.
