How could this possibly be legal?

"The first thing we do is kill all the lawyers..." Willie Shakespeare.

They repeatedly show people shouldering the arm brace. That’s not legal. They are breaking the law right there.

False

Shouldering a pistol does not make it a shotgun or a rifle. Neither does shouldering this firearm.

It is listed in the shotgun section by the manufacturer, that is either confusing or misleading. ;)
Ha-ha! For once (but just this once!), one of our gun related laws is simpler than yours: no minimal length for a shotgun as long as it stays as manufactured (reworded from memory). I think I remember a small Chinese import coach gun with something like 12" barrels.

But yours must have a buttstock, IIRC.

I think you're right, but I am not certain. I have seen a pistol grip shotgun here long ago; I could however not swear his owner always respected the law to the letter, may he rest in peace. I would have to check the law to make sure. My memory is now better (head trauma), but I do not yet fully trust it for something as important as legal matters. I do remember the "as manufactured" (or similar wording) part clearly because so short barrels had surprised me when I saw the shotgun on the gun rack in a store nearby and I searched the info then. I guess because I was never interested in a pistol grip shotgun, I did not record the information pertaining to them properly in the first place.

To OP, I would suggest law, justice, the interpretation of the law at a given moment and common sense are all different things. We have lots of weird laws over here; some would dare say so many laws is weird in itself.

ATF defines these accessories by their intended use, not by how we use them. I could shoulder my 1911 somehow, but it’s not an SBR.

Besides, are you trying to get it banned??

It is a pointless law that makes less sense the more you look at it.
Yep, I agree completely.

If you look closely there are a bunch of stupid laws on the books, but that doesn't change the fact that we are required to follow all of them. It behooves one to know the laws and the current interpretation of them, especially laws that relate to activities you spend a lot of time doing. Firearms are a special case because a mistake generally results in a felony conviction, a much more extreme consequence than you would find with many other hobbies.
