How do you feel about Dicks not selling “assault” rifles?

With recent events, Dick’s (and many other sporting-goods companies) are no longer selling “assault” rifles. First off, it bothers me that all of these people (mostly libs) are referring to AR15s as “assault rifles” or “assault weapons”. An assault weapon is defined as a rifle with select-fire capabilities. But anyways,

How do you guys feel about these companies now refusing to sell AR15 or “assault” style weapons? I know these large companies are probably more worried about revenue and how they are viewed by the public, and less worried about protecting/fighting for our 2nd amendment rights.

The way I see it (and this is just my personal perspective), stopping the sales of these rifles shows that they agree that the AR15 (and other similar platforms) is the reason that these mass shootings are happening... Almost like admitting guilt, like “Oh we don’t sell those guns, those guns are for school shootings and mass murders”.

It makes me feel like we’re just getting one step closer to a total ban. I live in California and my rights to own an AR15 are already as limited as humanly possible. I can either go featureless with a grip wrap blocking my thumb from wrapping the pistol grip, fixed stock, no flash hider, no forward grip , OR have some stupid contraption installed that makes my magazine fixed, forcing me to separate the upper and lower. But of course I’m totally in the clear to have detachable magazines on my Mini 14, which is damn near the exact same rifle and functions the exact same, minus some of these “assault” features as they define.

Does any of this concern you? Maybe I’m just one of those guys that’s over-worried, but I see that as a huge step towards a ban.

How do you all feel about Dick’s (and others) refusing to sell these rifles?

It's their prerogative, just like it is my prerogative where I shop.

I don't, just posturing by Dicks. Don't let the antis scare you, stand up proud and tell them hell no, no more, and I vote. :)

Dick’s is pandering. They stopped selling ARs years ago. This was to stop selling them in the Field & Stream stores.

What annoys me the most is the CEO saying he’s Pro 2nd Amendment. That’s the same line Tim Kaine uses each time he attacks gun owners.

It’s time to call them on being the liars that they are.

I haven’t bought anything at Dicks for a long time and now I don’t plan to even go into any of their stores.

They have not been selling them since sandy hook. At that time, I boycotted that store. Although, full disclosure, I rarely shopped there before, as their stuff is way overpriced. I understand Field and Stream is doing the same thing. If that is so, I won't be doing any future business with them. Looks like academy and bass pro will be my go-to's!

Yes I vote too, and can’t say I’ve ever bought from Dick’s or any other similar store. But it’s hard to see a LARGE corporate company <removed by moderator> on us like this

Yes I’ve never bought anything from Dick’s besides a pair of sweats once when I went with my dad back in 08 LOL.

Will NOT spend a penny there after hearing all this

Or the LGS! I just can’t see why they would crap on us like that. Don’t act like you’re a pro-outdoors shop then crap on your fellow outdoorsmen like that lol

I see a big lawsuit coming somebody's way for age discrimination for denying a person of their right of self-defense.

They can sell or not sell whatever they want, no skin off my nose, lots of alternatives. BUT, it annoys me they are going beyond that and will be using company funds to support legislative action to force their opinion on the country. That makes them a no-go for me for ANY sporting goods, not just guns. Go to h___ Dick's.

They stopped years ago after Sandy Hook; they care more about golf, kids' sports and exercise clothing - they will not be missed and I hope they go the way of Gander

As far as gun buying goes in my area, between Academy, Wal Mart, a dozen gun shows a year within an hour of home, and a pawn shop that gets decent stuff they want gone, who needs the foo-foo stores?

Yea and let’s not forget the new Gander Outdoors is owned by the guy who owns Camping World. And he said he didn’t want anyone who voted for Trump shopping there. I’m surprised they haven’t jumped on the bandwagon. And other than going in to see what the store was like I won’t shop there. Oh and the Fredericksburg store was a dump. They didn’t even redo the floors.

Dick's is already in big financial trouble. At least they were in 2017. Anything to get their name out there so they can keep selling yoga pants to bored housewives.

What's crazy is the publications flooding my home page about Dicks... And "shaming" BassPro/Cabela's for still selling "the choice weapon of mass shooters". Seems that "bully" press/media/journalism is as strong as ever.

As has been said Dick's stopped selling ARs after Sandy Hook. There was a lot of talk on here about boycotting them after the Sandy Hook decision but I'm not sure how that went. I remember seeing posts on here by someone saying they got a great deal on something at Dick's and when shamed for buying from them pled they didn't know anything about the Sandy Hook decision.

I don't buy from Dick's. I have some pretty good stores near me so I support them.

I'll never spend a dime at Dick's or any of the companies who think it's fashionable to distance themselves from the NRA.
Smart corporate executives realize they are only accountable to their shareholders. Foolish corporate executives who simply pander to political interests will likely see a decline in revenue. I'm not the least bit interested in hearing the political opinions of any Hollywood celebrity, athlete or corporation.

I betting NRA membership is soaring.
