I already have my C&R but the last time I bought a handgun the question are you a collector I said yes and showed my C&R and the guy said no a Maryland collector. So how do you become a Maryland collector since they don't recognize a federal collector license?

Fgr39,
I'm at work right now,but I can email you a copy of the collectors status application after I get home this afternoon. Fill it out,and be sure you state its for all modern & antique firearms. Get it notorized, then fax a copy to the MSP licensing division in Jessup. The fax number is at the top of the form along with their mailing address. After you fax them a copy, mail them the original. Be sure and make a copy for your own records. After about 2 weeks, you will receive a letter from MSP saying you have been approved and put on the list of firearm collectors for the state of Maryland. This also means you can buy more then one firearm every 30 days.:D

No, unfortunately I can't make it. I saw on their site that a shoot was on for this weekend. My intentions were to go but another instructor asked for help teaching a basic pistol class that jumped from 2 to six students all of a sudden. So with class on Saturday, and range on Sunday, there go's my weekend. I really was looking forward to it, but with a class of six, that be a bit much for one instructor. Plus, I just like the look on a students face when he or she takes that very first shot.:D

yeah me too

If youare nearby, go to Article II Unlimited on University in Silver Spring (the 'four corners' area), and ask Ken or his wife-to-be for a copy of the application.
I did that and it was easy as pie.
Never did use it to buy more than one registered firearm at a time though. Funds perpetually lacking- that and I have boycotted buying handguns in MD.

If it like Nazi Jersey, you don't. One of the head oinkers at the NJ Sturmabteilung, AKA State Police, personally threatened to prosecute me if I tried to collect via C&R in NJ. No big deal, as I will leave that AH and this state behind in 8 1/2 years when I retire to a free state, taking my retirement income with me.

DFBonnett:
Collector status is an MDSP-specific term, it lets you bypass the "one gun a month" for pistols and "assault rifles" just by filling out a simple form, a C&R is a seperate issue.
