How do you rig your magazines?

I was working on my magazines for my chest rig for competitions and such and I just thought I'd ask everyone how their rig is set up?

I set mine up similar to the way the Army did it when I was in. I use a spare USGI Fighting Load Carrier with all the pouches and such.

All the mags are random USGI ones with green followers. Some were made by oKay, Colt, etc. etc.

I wrapped the AR mags with staggering straps of duct tape for grip, and made "magazine pulls" with gutted 550 cord. (Cuz, you know, "Magpul" is taken now.) The reason I did this is because I found the second strip on the second magazine made it stay in the pouch easier during a quick magazine grab.

Anybody else got a rig to show or thoughts to put out there?

Just put the 550 under the mags base plate, saves the tape
really a personal question, how every you can get to them.

I've got a few magazines with the magpul base pads on them.

As for carrying them during a match, I put spare magazines in kydex mag carriers that mount to my belt. Usually I place them at between six to nine o'clock, which makes for the easiest way to execute a weak-hand reload. I don't ever mount them to the front of my belt, which could be uncomfortable when going prone.

Chest rigs and such will work just fine for practical rifle competition, but they do tend to be bulkier and slower to execute a reload from.

I currently have a MOLLE vest with 2 double pouches on the lower part of the vest at 9 o'clock, with spare pistol mags next to them. I also have a left thigh MOLLE platform with 2 single pouches for a total of 6 mags on my person and 1 in the rifle.

Clips...not mags!

young whipper snappers need to learn some terminology

The reason I used the tape was for gripping purposes. Sometimes I shoot with gloves and the tape helps.

The 550 cord is looped under the base plates. The picture might not be high enough res to show that, sorry. :)

Its way too hot down here in Florida to be wearing chest rigs (if you don't have to....been there, done that in sandy ****eholes of the world...) for competitions.....couple of Bladetech Kydex belt type mag holders are fine for me :) Personal preference is PMAGS, rounds facing to rear (opposite as to how I have them for pistol....just how it works out best for me), upside down, near as possible to 9 o'clock on belt.

none of the top 3gunners use chest rigs. We use belt pouches. I prefer wilderness pouches; easy on and off.
That said, if your setting it up for competition, run it like you were in combat; nothing wrong with that.
I use the rubber magpuls on my mags sideways on the mag, so as to give me more of a grip coming out of the pouch.
