I have zero. I have never owned an ar. I have gotten to play with an M16a1 and a2 on y'all's dime. I do have many mags though in a larger caliber for a different semi-auto rifle. Like they used in Rhodesia:D

If you only need magazines for the a trip to the range this weekend, 7 is more than enough. if you want to ensure your grandkids have mags when they are adults you are way behind.

I don't know haw many I have but they fill a common cardboard box. most unfired still in the wrapper, I remember paying 30$ and up during the ban.

I'm beginning to think that you are "old" when you remember when Pluto was a planet and Rhodesia was a country...o_O
Oh, and I now have four more AR mags,(Lancer), than I had before. ;)

You got me, and getting older by the minute. Just ay 54 at the moment. Pluto is not a planet anymore? What happened to it?

Pluto got reclassified. It's now a dwarf planet.
Tho, as I think of it, maybe they should rename it to Tyrion...? o_O
;)
Is the Shanghai McCoy from the WEB Griffin, the corpse series? Thanks for the Pluto update, seems I am 25 years behind it seems.

I have a couple of 10 rounders and 1 5 rounder. I use my rifles for deer hunting. No one needs more than 10 rounds to do that.

Huh. I, too, always thought that it was from the WEB Griffin character.

First I have ever heard of the "Rooster Cogburn" movie. :)
I probably saw it as a kid. Read the books about ten years ago. Going to watch the movie soon now. Thanks.

I'm another of those guys who like the 20-rounders, as well as the GI 20-round versions. They're kind of nice for plinking with the big boy's .22.

I have no idea...as others have mentioned, see a good price buy...also like others, I've been doing it like that for 30+ years...they add up.

Actually the answer is simple. There is an exact number. And I’m sure Gunny will back me up on this.

The number is ONE MORE
I have a few. But first off I also have a few AR’s.

I have my SHTF rifles mounted on the wall with loaded mags in a wire rack and in the pockets on the wall mount. But if I don’t want loose mags there’s a green mag carrier next to the wire rack with six loaded mags.

And just below the wall mount is another mag carrier with eight loaded mags. You never know how many mags you might need, or if a friend will be with you.

Then there’s a 50 cal. can with loaded mags. These are the extra that get thrown into the truck bed or the floorboard in case you need to bug out and don’t have time for loading extra mags. I think there’s ten or more in the can.

There are three or more mags in each of my AR soft cases. I have six soft cases with rifles in them, four double and two singles. And then there a few loaded mage in each safe.

But as we all know, mags don’t last forever and you should always keep a stash of fresh, new in the wrapper, mags just in case.

Food for though. If your mag doesn’t work, your gun doesn’t work.
It ain’t no fun to load mags when you should be shooting.
Preparedness is the cure for paranoia. ;)

I once puchased a few GI 20rnd at an estate auction some still wrapped and in 3 banana boxes for very little (less than $50):), I thought I needed 30rnd mags so I purchased a few of those:) and then Academy had 42rnd mags on sale so I purchased a few of those:). I have found I prefer the 20rnd mags more than any of the others

I have been wondering if I have enough Pmags, and I can't really decide.

How many do you need at a time for how long the plastic lives?

I always scratched my head at every panic buying storm that they go for up to $100 ea. Don’t get me wrong but my Army/Navy store Colt 20 round surplus mags have already been working for half a century and haven’t even been always in a cool dry place.

OK, full disclosure I have a few dozen of them, still in the original packaging and number I use.
