How many years until SCOTUS has the opportunity to hear a permit/carry gun case?

Today a special 11 judge panel of a Federal Appeals will hear arguments in Peruta vs. San Diego. If that case was to be ruled on and then later taken up by SCOTUS and ruled on I'm assuming that would take like 2-3 years correct? Are there any other cases involving permitting (good cause) and carry outside the the home that could be taken up by SCOTUS and ruled on sooner?

The OP asked two very specific questions:
...Are there any other cases involving permitting (good cause) and carry outside the the home that could be taken up by SCOTUS and ruled on sooner [than Peruta]? How many years until SCOTUS has the opportunity to rule on a permit/carry gun case?

Let's stick to answering those questions. Some off-topic posts have already been deleted.

SCOTUS may decide not to hear a case at all. As I recall, your SC is under no obligation to hear cases they don't want to. Just like ours.

SCOTUS tends to grant cert when there is a difference of opinion between two or more lower circuits on the same question. As I understand it, if Peruta is overturned by the 9th, it will eliminate the split between the circuits making cert less likely to be granted on an appeal from any circuit.

There are some other cases winding their way through the appellate process, but none that that I am aware of at the appellate level directly address the pointof the OP questions. So I think it may be some time (5+ years) before a case on point makes it to SCOTUS. I certainly don't know of any that might make it sooner, but I could easily have missed something that's out there.

Wrenn vs DC might be one to watch.
