I was at a local pawn shop the other day looking at their shotgun inventory. They had a nice looking Maverick 88 in what appeared to be excellent condition, but the price was $190. They had another one that was a little worse off, but it was $150. These prices seemed a bit high to me given the prices some people have posted on here for used Wingmasters and the like. So I was wondering.....

What's the most you'd pay for a good to excellent condition used Maverick 88?

Thanks for the info, Dave! That's what I was thinking. I'm thinking that pawn shop was a bit overpriced on some other guns, too, so it doesn't surprise me.

Hight for a used Mav.for sure.
But then I've NEVER seen a well priced pawn shop where guns are concerned.Pawn shops are the original 'start high and go from there' type of store.

I've got an 18-inch 88 that I bought new about 15 years ago. I figured when I loaded it with some TAP buckshot, I doubled its value. :) Mine rides in the trunk. I must say, though, it's never failed me.

Bought mine new at Wal-Mart for $162. Great gun by the way. That reminds me, pawn shops are usually way overpriced. I usually can buy the same gun cheaper at wally world or bi-mart. Strange Huh?

Plain barrel fixed choke guns and riot gun Mavericks go for $100.00-$125.00 used in my area.
Vent rib Maverick guns sell for $125.00-$150.00 used and guns with Mossberg accu-choke tubed barrels and in very good shape will bring $165.00-$190.00 used.
These are retail prices, out the door.

I picked up a Mossberg 500 with a rifled barrel and rifle sights in a pawn shop a couple of weeks ago for $125. It's in great shape. Right next to the Mossberg was a well-used 870 with a 20 inch barrel for $160. I fondled it and it had the smoothest action I'd ever felt. Those prices don't even account for bargaining for a better price. The deals are out there.

At another pawn shop the same day I saw a Glenfield 30A (Marlin) 30-30 that appeared to be unfired for $190.
