Does anybody here have any idea how old this Ruger 22 is? I was told that it was called an "Original Issue" but am not sure of that. I bought it from an 88 year old man who didn't remember when he had purchased it.

It is not marked as a MK1 but instead marked "Ruger,22 cal long rifle, automatic pistol"

Any help you could give me would be helpful. I have a guy with a C&R license who says that it is over 50 years old and can be transfereed in California without an FFL transfer.

Thanks Guys-Rob

Take a peek here http://drs.yahoo.com/S=96062885/K=r...://montanahunter.tripod.com/SerialNumber.html[/URL]

They appear to have been manufactured from 1949-1982.

Link to the ATF C&R Listing. They show the Ruger Standard Auto with red eagle serial #1-25000 eligible. http://www.atf.treas.gov/firearms/relics/curio.pdf

Take a look here on Cali C&R regs....

http://www.empirearms.com/cal-ffl.htm

NO PISTOL or concealable firearm, regardless of C&R status can be ordered from out of state and shipped in, or sold within the state without going through a Class 01 Dealer FFL

However.....

A federally defined C&R pistol, regardless of age, can be imported into CA if it is legally purchased out of state by a CA resident with a Class 03 C&R FFL and if physical possession of the piece is taken by the Californian Class 03 C&R FFL outside of CA. It can be imported by the CA Class 03 C&R FFL purchaser only - hand carry or UPS to yourself. It must be reported within 5 days to the DOJ on their special form and paying $20.

Hope this helps,

Good Shooting

Thanks a bunch. I couldn't get the first link to work, but that's what I thought about the transfer.--Oneshot
