How to Fix SKS Mags that Suck

I have bought, as I'm sure many of you have, those aftermarket steel sks mags that always seem to bind up, misfeed, malfunction, and generally suck all around. I found a relatively simple fix that anyone can do, with a file and a little patience.

Or you can buy USA brand mags which have always worked perfectly for me. I'm not talking just made in the USA. They are USA brand mags.

Or you can put the SKS 10-shot mag back on and use stripper clips like god intended.

It works, and you can lay down a continous string of fire indefinately, as long as you have loaded strippers.

Sergei, however, intended the weapon to be fed with stripper clips, and that's good enough for me.

If this thread was to open a debate on whether, or not, to run the 30 round magazine on a SKS you guys would be right on point with your comments/observations.

Don't be on them to hard, they're just joshing me . If I legally could switch to the stock box, I would, but right now I figure 'go big or go home'. I have a notorious 40rnd pro mag on order with sportsmansguide, so hopefully I'll have more content when February rolls around.

I'd love it if it wouldn't give me carpel tunnel syndrome from trying to bend my wrist around the drum to reach the trigger.

I had the banana clip on my SKS and it worked fair to middlin'. I took it back to the original 10 round because I like the look better.

I didn't change my second SKS. It's stripper clip only. But it was the thing to do way back when so I did it. I'm not proud of it. I just did it.
