have Pietta 1851 navies, 36 cal x 2 which will rotate cylinder to half cock, but will not

hold at full cock to allow firing with the Howell.

I suspect there is a simple fix here, a spring perhaps. Is there an adjustment ?

If the gun functions normally less that cylinder or with it's original cylinder then likely the hand is just a bit long and will not allow the hammer to reach the full cock position when the cylinder locks.....

Personally, I'd contact Howell about it.

B.Brown,
See if it will lock up while keeping the trigger pulled. Depending on the depth of the locking notches in the conversion cyl., it may introduce interference with the bolt arm/ hammer cam relationship.
Another test would be to check if it locks up at full cock but "unlocks" as the hammer falls (any counter clockwise rotation).
Sometimes at full cock the hand is what is keeping the cyl from rolling backwards and it gives the impression that the cyl. is locked up when it isn't.
