I thought I would come here and ask you guys if this makes any sense. I own an HS Precision take-down rifle in .308 but I've decided that I really want to get the standard model instead with the adjustable stock, fixed barrel, etc. I don't know what the take downs are worth but I thought I might be able to sell it to cover most of the purchase price of a new HS "tactical" rifle. However, that means I would have to sell the rifle for about $2250, is this a reasonable price to ask? It has about 400 rounds through it and is in great shape, do dings, marks etc. Just wanted to know if this was possible of if I'm just dreaming. Thanks in advance for any help.

Which model do you have? VTD? PTD? TTD? They are listed around $2500-$2800 from HS Precision I believe. $2250 is probably not out of the question, but the key is finding someone who is willing to drop the cash on one. Those rifles are a very niche market. IMHO....I think you'll be able to get close to $2000 for it but $2250 might be a bit high. Why do you want the standard model? You know that you can get a take down with the adjustable stock right?

I want to get the fixed model for increased accuracy, primarily. The take down keeps zero amazingly well considering how it can be taken apart and put back together so quickly, but it doesn't keep zero perfectly. Additionally, it seems like it needs to sort of shoot itself in for a couple of rounds before it really starts performing. In my mind, the take down is only worth having if it can place the first shot within a half inch of the X right after being put together, and they can't do that. I could keep the thing assembled all the time, but that seems to defeat the purpose of having the take down, and all other things being equal, I'm sure that the fixed barrels will outshoot the take downs. The only other advantage of the take down model is caliber interchangability, but that's not a feature I'm really interested in.
