http://www.southernohiogun.com/amo76239hunpop.html

ill be getting an SKS with a week and was wondering if this ammo is any good
(ammo that cheap im sort if skeptical of)
ive also seen a crate of yugo ammo on Aimsurplus. its more expensive though,
does anyone know the reason for this

im new to military surplus stuff so any info would be aprecitated

thanx

Never used it, but if you are getting an SKS, might as well get the ammo on strippers to save a step. (clips I mean)

I haven't shot the hungarian but watch out for the Yugo (both on strippers and not on strippers) - it's corrosive even though they list it as non-corrosive.

I'm sure you'd be able to clean the gun out ok but you'll have to be careful to clean the gas system so it doesn't get eaten.

I think Ammunition Store still has Wolf and some of the "mystery 7.62x39" ammo in stock for a decent price (like $105+shipping/1000)

Your SKS will eat Wolf *all day long* so don't worry about cheap ammo - that's what the SKS was designed to shoot.

If your SKS comes with the free cosmoline coating make sure you get the firing pin channel cleaned out really well. I usually disassemble the entire rifle and soak all the parts in kerosene for a couple hours then go at it with a toothbrush and lots of paper towels :D

Enjoy your new SKS...they're a lot of fun!
