Hunting boar with an airgun???

Bad Idea

I saw this ad last night in American Rifleman, and thought pretty much the same as many above. Sounds like just some sort of stunt. Hogs are big here in Texas and small bore centerfires sometimes just show them where it charge. Last year I took a 350 Rem Mag. Its hard to understand why someone would risk a BB shot, not to mention it doesn't seem to be in keeping with good stewardship of the game animal.

SM: a shot gun works better lol.

there was a wasp nest out the back of my place in a tree i couldent reach.

loaded a #5 shotshell 1 shot the whole nest was gone. and it was a big damn nest to. (bigger than a basketball) mind you. the wasps were some frickin pissed off and i left before they noticed me on the ground 20feet away.

Gamo's a low-end air rifle company, and that ad is just targeting inexperienced users for the "wow" factor. I'd have no problem hunting hogs with one of the big-bore precharged guns out there, but a .177 is foolishness.

I wouldn't even try it with one of the 9mm airguns. I would however try it with a .50

The big bore airguns still do not have super velocity so some size is needed.

The .50 is still slow but getting big enough where I can trust it for medium game at closer ranges.
