Hunting - Firearm Capacity in Maine

I got a lot of mags, clips and speedloaders at an estate auction for cheap, now I know what the 5 rnd AR15 and AR10 mags are for. I've not hunted with my ARs yet and my hunting firearms are limited to 5,6, or 7 rnds. What does the laws state about lever actions that hold 6 or 7 rnds? I have deer hunted with a shotgun that was 7 + 1, I never thought about being illegal.

Not sure where you are, but in Maine, it only counts for semi automatics. Excluding 22lr or less. So a pump, bolt, or lever does not count toward the mag restriction.

Fl has a 5 rd limit for deer using semi autos. I had to buy 10 rd pmags for my AR15 and AR10 and then buy 5 round limiters for them (which come in 3 packs) so I had to spend a little $ to get legal, and ended up with extra limiters. NC doesn't care.

A lot of places have five round limits on rifle magazines. You can even get M1 Garand clips bent to hold only five. You will pardon me for not looking up individual state game laws.
It's that way here..., been that way for many decades. Where I am if you have an extended magazine tube on your shotgun, you need to put a wooden dowel inside to restrict it to five shots for deer, and 3 shots for migratory birds. My SKS I had to create a block to insert into the magazine so that I couldn't get more than 5 rounds into the fixed mag, and my dad had to get some 5-shot clips for his Garand. Even some bolt-guns are made that way or sold that way. My CZ in 7.62x39mm has a five-round magazine. My Mossberg Patriot/Predator although it takes AR-15 Mags, only came with a 5-shot magazine.

I love my Lever Actions. 6 or 10 shot 30-30 to 460 and 45/70 shoot a round load a round.Like Hollywood a never empty gun
