I currently have a White Hat Maxtuck that I use. If you are not familiar with it, it is similar to the Crossbreed Supertuck except it has interchangeable kydex shells. I am fixing to purchase a small single stack nine that I will be carrying. My question is would it be better to just get the new shell or buy a smaller version of the holster I have? Just buying a new shell is obviously cheaper but will the smaller holster carry a lot better? What do you guys think?

It's all personal preference. A single stack will naturally carry better than a double stack and If you like the holster, why not keep it.

Alien Gear Holsters also have interchangable shells, but they also have three size backers. The shells will fit on any of the three size shells, but you may have a lot of leftover real estate if you put a subcompact shell on a full size backer.

If you plan on alternating carry between the two, I'd recommend a whole new holster. I have an Old Faithful Hybrid for my J-Frame, an Old Faithful Hybrid for my Glock 26, and an Alien Gear Hybrid for my wife's Glock 42. The one for my wife's G42 used to have a G26 shell on it, but when Santa brought her the G42 this Christmas, he thoughfully also brought a G42 shell for the Alien Gear Cloak Tuck 2.0.
