I am now picking up a new hobby since mine goes out in one week. Hunting will be done for the summer, I know, I know, Bummer:(. BUT In my great state of KY coyote season is in year around so I have decided to learn this sport. I am now looking for a scope for my AR, What would you gentlemen suggest would be a good scope for coyote hunting? Say up to 500 yards max. or at least a good scope spec range? Not looking to spend a rediculous amount of money just something to do during the summer.
Thanks for your time.

nikon prostaff 3-9x40 is good for that, and doesn't cost much. use high rings if you have big fat handguards like on most m4 clones. I also like the 4-12x40 mildot. I have neither on an AR, but they work on bolt rifles. I had a 3-9x40 on an AR at one point and it worked well, but good luck however you set it up.

^ +1 Nikon Prostaffs are great, have two of them both BDC versions. Redfield and Burris make great value scopes too.

Look at SWFA fixed powers. Tracking is dead reliable, they're indestructible, and the glass is very good for the price. They all have adjustable focus from 10m to infinity, with markings at 10, 50, 100, 200, and 500m.

yote hunting out to 500 a 1-4 vortex pst is an awesome scope. keeps weight down and performs flawless. i dont like fixed powers above 4x for hunting. too many shots are presented in coyote hunting at close ranges to be handicaped by a 10x fixed scope.

Stick with a lower power for coyotes, they have a tendency to come in close and surprise you. 1-4 or 2-7 would be my choice if buyin new, but mine is set up with a 3-9 and it never leaves 3X.
