I did this just to be ‘safe’

Good idea. I have a Nylon 66 rifle that the unbreakable stock snapped at the wrist when it fell out of my safe several years ago. Stocks for them are like dodo's. There aren't any.

Coincidentally, kind of did the same thing - but different. I drilled some undersized holes I could thread some bolts into. I used some small bungee chords on larger rifles with bipods and a bag of elastic ponytail holders (no metal on these so they work better) to hold the guns in place. They can be leaning out and don’t rely on gravity to hold them in the groove so the stock (or barrel if upside down) can be positioned where they fit the best on the safe floor.

Also recently bought a gun sock for every gun, a goldenrod, some VCI bags, and a silicone canister dehumidifier. I am currently going through the collection and giving every gun a fresh coat of rust inhibitor (I’m just using CLP, although for the next round in 6 months). Yep, overthinking and overkill:).

Prior to the gunsocks, I was able to fit 18 long guns in my safe, along with 7 pistols. I’m not sure if I’ll be able to get them all back in with the gun socks taking up a little extra space.
