I don't know jack squat about bipods - advice please

I've used accu-pods and like them a lot. I don't have anything against the company or the atlas. it's just that their marketing doesn't really articulate any sort of meaningful competitive advantage.

it probably is just what John said... they're overbuilt. And I'm not opposed to that either. (I love my dillon press, which is probably the most overbuilt thing I've seen)

The longer the legs are, the more unstable the gun will be. Shooting off a bench or prone you want a relatively short bi-pod with stable, stubby legs.

I've tried to shoot with the longer bi-pods. Some friends have had them on their guns. They were just too high to be able to rest the butt of the rifle in a bag. When they shot with my shorter one they liked it better.....for shooting off the bench or prone that is.

Thanks for all the help. I ordered the Harris BR 1A2 (no notches, no swivel) just the basic 6"-9" bipod. Of all places I found the best deal on evilBay.

It arrived today. Took about one minute to figure out how to mount it, not much of a challenge even for my one brain cell. It took about two minutes to figure out how to adjust the legs. It may take my brain cell a week to recover from that exercise. Maybe I will get to shoot it this weekend. Thanks for all your help.
