I'm hoping someone can shed some light on this because I'm baffled.

For about 4 months now the Kriss-USA CRB has been appearing, disappearing, and reappearing on the website for online order. I was excited, because I have been saving my points and a few gift cards to order one, but there seems to be no pattern about it.

I have $1000 in points saved and am finally in a position to buy one, however it now appears to be gone from the site. I did note that in the "add to cart" area it stated something to the effect that "This firearm is shipped directly from the manufacturer to the store". Ok, so Cabela's is serving as a distributor. That makes sense.

Why would it be vanishing and reappearing on their site? Is it that the latest gun control scare has Kriss unable to keep up with accelerated orders? Could it have something to do with the Bass Pro purchase of the store?

If it's just a matter of the manufacturer being overloaded with orders, I get it, but why wouldn't they leave it on the site and have a function to email you when it is available for order again?

I emailed Cabela's and asked this very question. Their response was basically "Cabela's doesn't carry Kriss firearms, blah blah blah". Yeah, well no kidding. I know that, but they HAVE had them listed online to order.

It's insane. I've been watching their website and checking it daily and the guns listed as available to order or purchase online literally changes on a daily basis.

anyone have any info about how this works, or why this could be occurring?

They did this to me with a hunting outfit! One day or even hours apart its there and then gone and there and gone. One hour its on sale and the next its not on sale and 4hrs later all gone and then back on sale.

It's probably an automated available/unavailable system.
Some systems, especially if they actually store any, will set it simply to say '0 in stock' or 'unavailable to order at this time'. If they're distributing from a supplier, when the supplier sets it to '0' or 'currently unavailable', it either says so on the site or the system just hides it completely. It may or may not be visible if you go directly to its page, like from a bookmark.

It's doubtful someone sitting at a system and applying and removing it. It's just a quirk of whatever inventory and distributing program Cabela's and Kriss are using.

Yeah, I guess I just think it's a stupid way to do business. It implies certain products aren't available through the store.

I checked this morning and it was back on the website, so I ordered. Grand total after taxes was $1597 and change. My cost will be $399 and change so I'm happy.

@460Shooter

Your an assassin aren't you? lol. Sorry I had too. :)

That thing is sweet!! Don't know why someone would ever want one unless they were 007!
Ha! Actually I have fantasies of being a space man and becoming a intergalactic soldier of fortune. It seems appropriate. The space ship should be landing pretty soon.:D

In all seriousness though, I had no interest in this model until it was released in 10mm. With some hot loads and a 16" barrel, it should be a nice mid range thumper capable of taking white tailed or mule deer. I also load 10mm and plan to work up some nice Accurate #9 loads.

Should be a fun gun to experiment with.

I already have a Vortex Spitfire I plan to put on it, and all I need is the extended hand guard/rail.

I had to razz ya a little bit. :D On a hunting forum I belong to a guy showed up in our coyote hunting contest with an AR in like 300bo or creedmore with suppressor, like 3-29x scope that was night vision, some crazy looking infrared scope mounted to the side and some tripod with a ball mounted on the rifle and tripod. That wasn't the best part. He had a 338 lapua or something similar with the same suppressor, night vision and infrared in it. My first question was are you an assassin? He killed a few coyotes and then quit logging in. If I remember right he was like $5-6k in the hole for each rifle.
