I don't understand the point of press-checks.

I don't press-check my carry piece because it is SA/DA, thus I carry hammer down.
Press check would require me to cock and then de-cock my hammer, and there's
no point when the "loaded-chamber" indicator tab is up.

However, sometimes I need to verify for certain if I have a live round or a practice round of some sort,
and in this case I just look down the barrel and check for a hollow point.
Hammer down, safety on, finger off the DA trigger... I'm confident I won't get shot in the face.

However, I press-check my 1911 and other more traditional autoloaders
from the rear serrations just like you'd expect me to.

I expected that response.
Present a scenario where a de-cocked, safety-on P345 will fire.

Keep in mind that the P345 de-cock safety disconnects the firing pin from the works;
but that's actually irrellevant anyway because the hammer is down.
It's safer than a DA revolver.

Did I read that right? You are looking down the barrel?:banghead:

So your saying that if everything works according to plan and all of the implemented safeties are functional there will be no problem. Right? I agree, but I wouldn't bet my life on it. We may have confidence in the fact the gun will fire when the trigger is pulled, but thats never 100% confidence. I feel the same way about the safeties. I may be 99% sure that the safety is reliable and that without pulling the trigger the gun wont fire, but I wouldn't bet my life on it. The 2nd of the 4 rules of firearms states "Never point the gun at anything you are not willing to destroy." (I'm sure you know that) I'm not willing to destroy my eye nor what is beyond it. (as is cautioned by the 4th rule)

Forget it guys.
If you can't understand how my gun works, then ignore my statement and don't de-rail the thread.

I don't need to be babysat by 24/7 "4 Rules" no exceptions.
I look down the barrel of a gun that I know won't fire.
I have 100% confidence in a dis connected firing pin and a hammer with no potential energy

PM me if you can prove me unsafe.
