Hakan's stocks with checkering by Sherry Abraham: http://www.checkering.com

I sent her pictures of these amboina stocks Hakan Pek made me a year or so ago, since she wasn't sure she could checker burl wood. She beamed me back an E-mail to tell me they'd be fine. I sent them to her with a check for $110 and a sketch of the checkering I'd like, and received them back today, weeks sooner than expected.

Not too shabby, eh?

Hakans grips

I have 3 sets of Hakan grips. Quilted maple and turkish walnut for my 2 Kimbers and America walnut for my CZ 75 compact. All three are stippled, the 2 Kimbers are 1/2 & 1/2 and the stippling works as good as checkering.

Keep checking Hakans website because I sent him over 40 pounds of wood from Fred Wenig, Lincoln, MO. Some of Freds work has been in the American Rifleman.

Keep up the good work Hakan.

Leonard

OK...let me get this straight...

You pay for a set of Hakan's grips and THEN add another $110 to them PLUS a year's wait but you put skateboard tape on the front strap...?

C'mon, man...show some class! Get some checkering or leave it plain. That's no way to have grips of that caliber showcased... :cuss:

Are those orvis pants underneath your 1911?

No. That's a jacket.

You're right. The gun is a work in progress. The front strap still needs to be checkered, and I'm planning to have the hammer and trigger gold-plated. I already have the .22 long rifle slide, Docter sight, and Fung stocks—and then I'll start the next gun, of course.

Project guns always take about five times longer than anticipated. They always cost about... Well, never mind that part.

Wait - how long is the wait for Hakan's grips?

And don't you start mouthing off about the deck tape - the stuff is better than any frontstrap checkering I've ever seen and only costs $5 for 2sq feet. Mine has never even thought about coming off, and I carry that gun all day every day. But you go ahead and pay $100 to get your frontstrap checkered  :neener:

LiquidTension, hand checkering on the front stap of my pistols ran $200 for 30 lpi. If you can get it done for $100 you have a true bargain. Regards, Richard :D

This is my blued M457 with 30 lpi checkering, Novak night sights, wood checkered Hogue grips, and hard chrome by Ford's Guns. It is now too pretty to carry!
