I guess it just HAD to happen. Wolff ammo discussion.

I have always defended Wolff ammo. I have never had a problem with the stuff, and I figured those who did just did not clean their stinking guns enough. I seen two guys I know shooting their ARs that had a fired cartridge case stick in the chamber, both of them happening on the same day! I attributed it to the fact these two young guys like to make their ARs sound like M16s, and I also did not figure they were as particular about cleaning as I am. Well, I reckon it had to happen, the same thing happened to me today! Took the old AR out, shot 60 rounds of it at a leasurely pace, no rapid fire stuff. Put the gun down and shot 200 rounds through my 10/22 and MK2. Went back to the AR, fired two rounds, and blam, the second cartridge stuck in the chamber. That was the end of ole Tim's shooting for today! When I got back to the house a cleaning rod knocked it right out, but this would have more than sucked if it would have been a self defense/combat type situation! This is the new polymer coated Wolff stuff. By the way, this was the very first time my AR has had a stoppage of any kind, and it dang sure is ammo related, not the gun! I only bought a small stockpile of Wolff ammo to supplement my reloaded ammo, but I rekon I will stick with my reloads from now on!

I've also fired thousands of rounds of wolf through my AR without any problem, but recently I've been having round after round of wolf jam in the chamber like that. Also the polymer coat. It looks like their quality has dropped.

I'm going to go through what I have left of it, and replace it with good brass ammunition, probobly Wisconsin Cartridge reloads as I've heard really good things about their quality.

I buy the federal 100 rd bulk packs to avoid these problems in my AR and WASR3.

I would have to agree. My Ar cannot, I mean cannot, get through more than 5 rounds with out jamming. Makes me happy to think I didnt buy a bulk pack before I got the gun like I would have liked to.

I use it for range work, initial sighting in, and fun plinking. I've never had any problems with it, but since I'm just at the range, if I ever did have a problem it wouldn't really be a problem.

BTW, Wolff (2 Fs) are the folks that make springs. Wolf (1 F) is the ammo company.

My experience with Wolf in my AR is similarly disappointing. I bought a case (1k rounds) of Wolf Military Classic when I built my AR. It short-stroked almost every round, never locking back on an empty mag and occasionally not even feeding the next round. After a LOT of worrying that my rifle had some sort of problem with its gas system, I bought some other .223 ammo (Remington, Monarch Green Box from Academy, etc.) and the problem went away. The brass ammo was thrown about twice as far as the steel Wolf, too - which confirmed to me that what I had was low-pressure ammunition.

Well, Wolf advertises 100% customer satisfaction, so I called them and told them I had something like 600 rounds left that wouldn't cycle my gun's action. They mailed me a pre-paid shipping label, I boxed the ammo I had left up with a copy of the original receipt (OutdoorMarksman.com), and shipped it off.

Here is the incredible part - believe it or not, my check arrived in under two weeks, and they didn't refund my original purchase price (something like $3.99 / box), they refunded the CURRENT SELLING PRICE - $4.50 or so at the time! So I actually MADE money on the deal! THAT is customer service.

So what I tell people is, give it a try, and if it doesn't work, send it back - you can't go wrong.

i have had that happen to me about 3 times in about 750rds in the last few weeks, which is why i carry a cleanning rod to the range with me, i have one especially for that.

By no means does this only happen with wolf ammo though, i have have had 2 do the exact same out of 100rds of q3131 of winchester, and i have seen my training buddy have 3 out of about 400rds of lakecity.

as much as ammo cost especially the lake city and the q3131 the qa qc of those companies need to be fired, the wolf is a great value and though the rds stuck in the chamber happen i will continue to use it, if it is gonna happen with better quality ammo and the cheap stuff too, might as well save the money and go with the wolf that is the way that i look at it.

Btw this is as good of reason as any to work on those transition drills.!
