Aside from my Rem 870 with the aftermarket stock, I have no long gun with a pistol grip. I do have one evil 'assault rifle'-my Fed Ord M14, complete with bayonet lug and flash hider (does that make it an evil wood rifle?), but nothing with the super evil pistol grip.

I've got 2 Yugo SKS's (and with my C&R, I'm sure I'll acquire more from other countries), so I'm really leaning toward an AK type rifle. Should I get one of the Romanians as soon as I can find the $? Or should I hold out until I can afford one of the Krebs KTR-03s? (That's an awesome looking AK-thanks George for putting it up on your site...now I can't get it out of my head.)

Decisions, decisions....

Cosmetics, cosmetics, cosmetics.

Personally, I dislike those separate pistol grips (even if it's with a folding stock) on shotguns. It's harder for me to control the recoil whereas with the tradition stock the grip suits me just fine.

Now, turning to adding "evilness" to your inventory, suggest you get a gun that has cosmetic evilness at inception. You know, the AR, CETME, FAL, AK type of evil guns. BTW, since the AWB (or even before), when was the last time some civilian ever used a bayonet mounted on a rifle to commit a crime? Well, the ban must be working because I don't ever recall it happening since the ban.

Oh, I've already made the decision that if the AWB gets renewed (even just in it's current form) or if Kerry gets elected, I'm liquidating some of my savings and buying a bunch of evil rifles.

I got the pistol grip for the 870 because with both my wife and I being in the military, we're both much more familiar with the M-16 than the traditional stock, and it's just more confortable to handle. Not for the evil factor.

That being said, I'm eyeballing the Romy AKs because they seem to have the highest evil/$ ration.

Actually.. bayonets aren't illegal...it's just the LUG that's illegal. Now, what qualifies as a proper bayonet lug, I do not know.

It's probably still legal to duct-tape the bayonet onto the end of your rifle.

Man, that'd be goofy looking. Maybe I'll try it.

It just dawned on me that we could adopt a Brown Bess socket bayonet to a lugless AR-15. All you need to do is to silver solder a 5mm by 10 mm rectangular lug onto the barrel (provided the AR barrel is 11/16th inch diameter). It wouldn't be very obvious either.

I have thought about trying to modify a spike bayonet from a Mosin Nagant to work on other guns but I don't know how workable it would be.

Anyhow, I would suggest something in .308 if you want a black rifle. I have found my FAL to be accurate and although it is in need of a little tweaking to get the sights right it is fast becoming my favorite rifle. Others have said that the HK style rifles are very accurate as well. I would go with one of them.
As far as AKs go, I am on my third. None of them have really shot anywhere near as well as any of my other guns. If you just want something to look bad then an AK will do as good as anything. If you want something that will shoot well get something other than an AK.
The only exception that I have seen to this is the VEPR. They are accurate but poorly balanced IMO.

I was just going to mention that I thought the 91/30 used a socket bayonet...probably a bunch cheaper than a brown bess version, too.

I'd love to get a DSA rifle, but they're pretty pricey, and .308 is generally more expensive than 7.62x39. And I've got 900 rounds of it sitting in the garage for the SKS. Only about 400 of .308 on hand for the M-14.
