I like Charter Arms and I like snubbies, but...

I am thinking about getting the Mag Pug .357 with a longer barrel.

Here is the thing. I have two Ruger Blackhawks in 44 spcl and .357. I have 4 snubbies, two of which are Charters in 44 spcl and .357. These CAs have given good service, but I think the Mag Pug with the longer barrel would be a nice addition to the armory. An LCRX 3" is a possibility, but I prefer the metal CAs even though the DA trigger on the LCRX would be smoother. Does anyone here have experience with the longer barrelled Mag Pug? Have you found it to be reasonably accurate? I am interested in hearing your thoughts.

I don’t, I only have a 3” 44 Bulldog. Did you see the Professional V is a 6 shot .357 with a 3” barrel? An extra round in the XL frame.

Yes, I saw the Professional on another thread. I have had no success in finding out more about it via CAs website. It interests me more than the chrome plated mag pugI have seen.

I have two 80s era Charter .357's with 4 and 6 inch barrels and they're excellent revolvers that you can regularly find for under 300 when you can find them.

Because of the adjustable rear sights I can dial it in for the specific round I'm shooting. Coming in at 21 ounces it helps in abating severe recoil. The trigger is smooth and crisp... the DA trigger, while not as smooth as my LCR (it hasn't seen near as many rounds or dry fires) is getting better with every range session. Concealability is great... I keep it in a leather Azula IWB and wear it in the 1 o'clock position and when sitting or bending I do sense its presence because of its additional length, but it's easily adjusted to mitigate any discomfort.

I changed the grips to the same Hogue Tamer grips that are on my LCR (to aid in concealment and keep it same to the LCR) and installed a HIVIZ front sight that aids the finding it quickly in low light.

My first LCR was a .22WMR...I was so impressed with it that I added a LCR.357 then a 3" LCRx .22WMR and finally this 3" .357 when it became available. They are a unique, well thought out and well made gun and a great fit for defensive purposes. IMG_20191114_230228276.jpg

Wheelgunman, I had two LCRs. I kept the 38 but sold off the 22 WMR. The trigger on that gun was simply atrocious. I like the 38. I think I would like the 3" 357. The 357 Charter Professional, though, with its extra round, appeals to me more.

That definitely is a nice looking revolver. I couldn't find any overall specs on it regarding dimensional size. If you're not planning on conceal carrying it then I guess size doesn't matter.

Yes..the LCR22WMR has a heavy trigger pull..I knew that going in. Funny thing is my wife shoots it a lot and has never complained about it.

I was very interested in the C.A. professional when it was first introduced. however, since the sighting problems have come up and have not been addressed by the company; I went for the LCR .327 and have not been sorry for a second.

Jerry, what are the sighting problems? Do they extend to the .357 Professional?

I haven't read anything about the sighting issue with any other Professional except their .327 Fed Mag. the problem with the .327 prof. was that the front sight is too high so that the point of aim and point of impact are about 5" low at 15 yards I think the distance was. I have not shot one myself, however more than one complaint of such problem has been brought up.

Same. I like my 38 special LCR a lot. I thought I would like a 22lr LCRx, but its horrid trigger convinced me otherwise. I prefer my CA 22lr Pathfinder.
