Keep telling folks that 28 gauge is a lot more potent than it is supposed to be.
And if you have any doubts I can only wish you'd been with me and a couple of friends earlier this week when we put my 28 gauge o/u through some paces on a very high tower. Closest shot was 40 yards, furthest was about 65.

That 28 will reach WAY out there and hit the birds hard too. :D

Now if only Beretta would answer my constant pleas for a 28 gauge 391. Steve and I might have to have a duel to see which one of us is first in line.;)

No I won't trade my wife for a gun.

You're not a true shotgunner yet....:D

Here's my rule of thumb/standard answer for the "My wife/girlfirend/etc. needs a gun." question.

If you feel comfortable buying clothes for that person. Not just socks or a sweater, but an whole ensemble/outfit/dress, then feel free to buy them what ever you think they need.

If the idea of having all your fingernails ripped out with pliers is more appealing then going into one of "their" clothing stores, then let them buy what they want.

Good stickies on fit at the top.

It is done and we succeeded!

I didn't think it could be done but I got a new beretta for my wife for $600!
It is a 3901 with a synthetic stock.
She went with me and the LGS was very helpful and took their time with us.
Thanks for all the advice about my mission it was very helpful
Special thanks to toivo for the heads up on removing the spacer on the synthetic stock for the perfect fit.
She held everything and got a good idea of what fit and what didn't she wasn't crazy about the franchi 720 or the remington 1100. And the urika was still $900 (not to mention they only had full size there)
The youth stock seemed a little short for her (the franchi was the only one they had) and the full size was a little long.
She got the name brand she wanted (Beretta) and we stayed on budget ($604 with tax).

Before we went to the store to buy this I called 6 or 7 LGS and not one had a used 20ga autoloader.

We went straight to the range and shot it(she loved it) and I took us home and cleaned it and we all lived happily ever after (...until the next gun purchase).
