I find myself looking to add a small (2-4") fixed-blade knife to my daily carry, but I can't seem to find any manufacturers who sell a knife with a discrete sheath intended to actually use. The typical injection-molded sheaths I can find (CRKT, Cold Steel, etc) appear to be designed to sell with the knife, not to survive daily use.

Can you recommend a couple manufacturers I should look at who take sheaths as seriously as Blade-Tech, Comp-Tac, or Safariland take kydex holsters?

Most specifically I'd like a 2-3" knife, with a real handle, in a discrete IWB sheath, on the left side.

. . . or maybe I should (gasp) look at a lefty automatic.

Off the top of my head custom makers that you may want to contact are -
Kim Breed
James Gibson
Mike McCarter
Samuel Riner
Gary Wheeler

Sam's only 18 so his sheaths aren't up to the same level as the other's, but Mike can make a nice sheath for Sam.

If you've not purchased a hand made knife before, please understand that you're paying for a single craftsman's time, skill and talent and that doesn't come at production knife prices.

I've ordered a couple custom sheaths from Cleveland Kydex, they're good to go, although it took a few weeks to get my last one ...
