I pledge to be a polite THR member.

I pledge to remember that my behavior on this board reflects on all gun owners.

I pledge to remember that children and Art's grandma might be reading.

I pledge to remember that fence sitters in the RKBA fight might be reading.

I pledge to remember that antis could use what I write to cast gun owners in a bad light.

I pledge to behave like an adult.

I pledge to step away from the keyboard if I find myself typing in anger.

I pledge to apply the 4 RULES to the "submit" button.

I pledge to ignore or disengage from hostile exchanges or to offer expressions of peace before continuing.

I pledge to remember our common ground and to not do the antis’ divide-and-conquer work for them ... to discuss those differences, not fight about them.

I pledge to stay on The High Road.

There are people here with whom I vehemently disagree, but respect, because of our common interests. Malone comes to mind.

There are others here who are simply around to sow discontent. They have no interest in shooting or firearms. Their attempts to manipulate the rules and moderators are obvious, and yet they're allowed to remain.

Oh well. It ain't my call.

but a poll W/ no choices still baffles me a bit
It's not really a poll. I'm just using the poll to let people "sign" the pledge. :)

The second non-option is there because the poll software requires at least two options.

A lot has happened in the world recently to ignite the passions of patriots, and I know we have our share here. I would prefer these folks state their case, and possible stumble with proper etiquette, than let the wrong message prevail.

If a non-confrontational mode is all you’re comfortable with, those previously mentioned events should be viewed as a very late wake-up call for you to get tough.

If you simply must feel offended, check out the Islamic extremists first.

I'll not be "pledging" anything until I've heard from Mr. Volk and Coronach with regards to the questions I asked them.
I'm simply asking people to get themselves into a better, and more-productive frame of mind about things around here. I'm not asking people to say that X-side was right or Y-side was right in the recent unpleasantness. :)

I'm quite comfortable with cyber-slugging and being confrontational. Just do a search for my handle. :)

I'm just trying to get us back in the right frame of mind. There's confrontational and then there is destructive, and I think things may have crossed into the latter recently.

I'm not saying I'm offended at anyone's opinion. I just think we're tearing ourselves up when we shouldn't be. :)

This thread, while no doubt well intentioned, doesn't further the interests of the board, is off-topic and may even prove to be divisive.
