They pushed my "EASY" button a couple weeks ago with a S&W PC1911 and it went home with me. Today the same guy brought out a revolver that they were evaluating for a trade in and owner agreement, hadn't made it to the used gun display yet. It was a blued S&W 14-4 with the 8 3/8 in barrel and was in really nice condition with a small bit of holster wear at the muzzle, almost as nice as the 15-4 I traded for a couple weeks ago. I checked the completed sales on gun broker and the sale prices ran between $450 and $600 without the original box and manual. There were two that went for $800 range but they were nearly pristine and came with box and papers. The average was around $550 so I will wait to see what they price it at and see if I can do a deal with them. There were a bunch listed at $900 plus but they never got one bid. These S&W revolvers have really got a hook in me. I had a really nice Model 10 a number of years ago and like a dummy let it go and have regretted it ever since.

I practiced restraint today not retraint, stupid computer can't spell.

I'm really struggling at the moment. There's a gun on GunBroker that I told myself I wouldn't hesitate to buy if I ever found again.

I admire your willpower.

Way to cave in! Just kidding! At that price I would have also had a hard time passing up a deal like that!

I'm going to check back with them later this week and see if they worked out a deal with the owner of the gun. The wife and I are moving to Florida at the end of November so extra money is a bit hard to come by right now but I'll have to really think on it. I feel my resistance weakening.

I've been walking away from my computer for a week.

I've tried to limit the number of handgun calibers I own: started out with just .38 special. Then of course added 9mm (a bunch). Then .380 (Beretta 85F). Then 32acp (Colt 1903). Finally succumbed to .45acp (Shield, Sig 245, S&W 4513TSW) and just recently "discovered" 38S&W (Colt Police Positive, H&R Topbreaks, S&W 38/200).

That's it, says I.

Then I sees a way cool pistol, a S&W CHP .40 cal 4006 TSW....and my best friend is a retired CHIP; I loves me TSW; and I ask myself, "What collection is complete without a .40 cal in it?"
I've been firm so far....but I feel myself weakening and I've heard a mummer from the safe saying "40 cal; 40 cal; 40 cal." It's getting louder.

I started a thread here a couple of weeks ago about having acquired a 3-inch older Taurus 941 (.22WMR) and a Bersa Thunder 22, and leaving behind a pristine older 63-3 Smith and Wesson. I was proud of my restraint.

Then, a couple of you (bannockburn and, I believe, berettaprofessor) got me to second-guessing that last part.

So, a few days later, I went back. The 63-3 was still there.

Was. :D

where are you at I'd like a model 14 in good condition.that is reasonably priced. lol

Mr Dickel,

Do you currently own a model 14? If the answer is no , I recommend that you get yourself back to that gun shop and un-restrain yourself ASAP.

Failed today as well. Stag put their lefty 7.5" pistol uppers on sale...previously not available...had told myself I'd buy it the next time they came available....so I pulled the trigger so I can pull the trigger soon.

MAN you have the constitution of a mule! I woulda plunked down something to hold it, then gotten holy hell when the wife saw what I did! (I'm still on gun restriction for a while longer...it's REALLY tough when there's a peach sitting in front of me tho!)

Stay safe!

I stopped in today and they didn't have it in the used gun cabinet yet, I'll check back again tomorrow and talk to the owner about it and get my name on the list. I have nice 1903A3 that I might put up for sale to get the Smith, I just don't shoot the A3 much. Yeah, my resistance is weakening, but the price they ask may be more than it is worth. The shop tends to have high prices on certain brands of guns. I'm really developing an addiction for Smith revolvers, may have to attend a few SRA group (Smith Revolvers Anonymous) meetings to give me strength.

I am in a tight spot, but just made some smart moves to get out of it. $800 a month headed out has been stopped dead in its tracks. Took a little extra to make that happen though... and I finally found the actual model number of a gun I traded off years ago and regretted losing, it’s a Taurus 689. As soon as I made the deal and wrote a check to cover the difference on the car, I ran across a new-in-box Taurus 689 6” gloss blued from the late 80s. It’s privately owned, and I will own it at some point. They know I’m their sucker, and I will probably end up paying premium for it, but it’s exactly what my heart desires.

Resistance is futile, I will be assymilated...

Have they set a price?
As of yesterday, no, wasn't in the display case. I plan on stopping by today and talking with the owner about it. Sometimes the guys that work at the shop will buy a gun than comes in on trade and it never hits the sale floor.

Life is too short to deprive yourself of something that you really want. I'm not saying indulge your every whim and desire to the detriment of the necessities, that would be stupid and selfish, but getting something you really lust for makes you feel good with the world.
