. . . . .JUST AWESOME! We shot it at standard pistol ranges 7, 15 and 25 yards. Even my 10 year old son was blowing out the bulls eye at 15 and 25 yards and he's a 1911 guy. . . . .I mean 1911 kid, loves my SW1911. The G34 is just plain nice to shoot. The light recoiling 9mm, added barrel (5.3") and slide length with the longer sight radius help make it a real shooter.

I bought the G34 because I'm hoping to shoot in our local Glock Sport Shooting Foundation match this summer. I want to practice with it as much as I can. The 9mm being cheaper then my 40 S&W's will allow me to shoot a lot more. Hopefully another back surgery won't stop me from shooting in the match.

NYH1. ;)

awesome! I am debating a 17L, or 34/35 myself................ I like the looks of the longer slide as well.

Qman, I went with the G34 over the G17L because the G34 is allowed in a lot more divisions (IDPA and USPSA to name a few) then the G17L is. I guess there is a box to check for length, height and width that some divisions use. If your pistol doesn't fit inside the box you can't use it. Although, you can use any Glock in a GSSF Match. I didn't want to limit myself to just GSSF Matches and I might try other divisions down the road.

I did look long and hard at the G17L though.

Good luck, NYH1! ;)

I'll second the idea that the g34 fits the IDPA box. IDPA is ridiculously fun and a great form of practice, much more so than standing still at a static line shooting static targets. It also costs you about the same. :)

I recently picked up a gen4 34 with the intention of using it in IDPA. I haven't yet, I still prefer my 19. Until I get more familiar with the 34, I still feel like I'm drawing the joker's obnoxiously long handgun. But man is it ever fun to shoot. I bought the m&p pro 5" first and ran several hundred rounds through it. One time shooting a g34 and I quickly sold my m&p to get a gen4 34. Haven't regretted it.

It's very fun to plink with, too. You can bounce those little reactive 5" polymer target balls all over the place for quite a distance.
