I have a number of both, with optics sight radius argument goes away the velocity argument would lead you from a 4” barrel to 6” to 8” to carbine length and is valid especially if you pick the right powder to support the argument.

I am not a huge fan of things that make hunting firearms louder, shorter barrels without suppressors or ports but if you are using ear protection that argument also goes away. You can do that now, if your ears are still good or with electric muffs so you can hear stuff once you have already ruined them.
