This has been something I occasionally think about. Like the look and figure it would help when I let it back in the case, because the factory bolt sticks out too far. Anyone know how or where I can get this done?

It’s not that difficult you’ll need a torch hotter than propane like OA, as well as a heat sink and basic hammers/solid anvil-like surface. To have a smith do it it will likely cost $80, may be cheaper to weld a new handle on entirely.

My neighbor's an hvac guy, he probably has that stuff. I'll have to do it that way, eighty bucks is needed for other things.

Be sure to use copper blocks, a heat sink, and/or heat stop paste to protect the bolt body. Warping it would make cycling the action problematic.

The root of the handle is the "locking lug" on most bolt action .22s, not sure bout the crickets. I'd be Leary of softening it much or any. Not so much because of set back, but it may ware faster.
