I've sent off my application for membership and am thinking about what revolvers I want to set aside and tweak for competition use. Do ICORE stages ever require single action fire? I have a S&W 15 that would be great for match shooting, but it's DAO.

Thanks!

I've never heard of any stage requiring SA. Many competition guns don't have hammer spurs anyway, so I think it wouldn't be possible to even consider it.

That said ICORE is very flexible about stage design. At 2017 or 2016 IRC there was a stage with 2 targets at 50 yards. Three shots each, btw. Those who could fire SA did. The rest of just wished we could.

That's rare and I doubt you'll be at any disadvantage.

Thank you! I'll move forward with the current plan, then. Racing speedloaders, spring kit, and holster are on the way, so maybe I can shoot next month's match (this month's is this weekend, so too soon).

I have been shooting ICORE for almost 20 years and have never heard of required SA.

Grab your model 15, a fistfull of speedloaders and get out there.
Thanks! Supplies are on the way, so it won't be long, unless they pull an IDPA and wait three months to send my membership. :cuss:

ICORE HQ isn't a study in high efficiency. It is actually sort of a shoestring operation.

Unless it's a sanctioned match you probably don't need to be a member of ICORE to shoot it, just check with the MD. They usually report classifier scores to HQ though. So if you want those I would send an email to HQ about a week before the match get your number.

BTW I agree with others will prolly never see SA in ICORE. But you will see strong hand then weak hand shooting. I would highly recommend that you practice weak hand shooting, it is there you will get an appreciation for the long DA trigger LOL!

AZAndy, I forgot to say welcome to ICORE. I find it a fun discipline to shoot. Some stages can be really creative with varying targets and shot counts. Doing two Classifiers this weeken with GA ICORE, both requiring some single handed shooting.

Have fun.
