Identify this Mauser pocket pistol?

My Dad just inherited this pistol and I was just curious as to the markings. From what I gather, this is a 1914 Mauser pocket pistol in 32 cal. manufactured between 1914 and 1923 by the serial number. I'm curious about the markings on the milled section on the top of the slide. I would guess this was issued to police but this doesn't look like german?

Not sure but could be Denmark or Norway.

Thanks for the photo and question. Pistols with a milled area in the slide and marked "Politi" are generally attributed to the police in Norway. If you do a search on those terms you will find several discussions of pistols like yours. There is even a dedicated but small group of collectors who specialize in "Politi" marked firearms. That also looks like the Norwegian police crest, just came across it on another search.
