If you were starting over, would you buy the same guns?

I should have gotten a Marlin 39m in 1972 instead of a cheap, but accurate, Sears bolt.
If some one had handed me my S&W 13 and my 1911 from the start I would have saved a bunch of FFL fees.

My biggest impulse buy was my Series I Kimber. And its my favorite pistol currently :D

Another impulse buy is my Colt .380 Government. Saw it, noticed that its no longer made, I'm in California, so I better buy it before someone else does. Realistically though, I shoulda saved my money for something else I'd really use. I dont collect, so this pistol might leave my hands soon. Only owned it for not even two months, but I wont shoot it much. Fun gun though!

Glock 23. Got into the hype, the .40 hype and the polymer hype. Didn't shoot it well, but it was a great gun. Gone now though, hope the new owner is happy with it. :)

I've got what I "need" but I would have changed...

....I bought a Sig 220 as my first gun. It was a retired LE gun, and had like 900 million rounds through it. I sold it a few years later, as there was pitting in the frame rails, and I'm not one to keep what I won't shoot.
I would have never bought that SA XD 9mm. I hated that gun. Felt cheap, and was too thick to conceal well. Sold it at a $40 loss.
Also, the Kahr ploymer frame guns. I bought two at the same time, and then fired them and sold them the next day.
The RRA M-4gery. Never had a use for it, and should have bought more mags and ammo for my M1A.
The Howa 7mm mag bolt gun. Nice gun, but $650? Nah. Sold it for $600 and never missed it. Should have got a Rem 700 in .308. (Two other rifles in that caliber, why not?)
I don't own a small revolver. J-frame, Sp101, whatever. I want one, and I'm looking around. Maybe a 3" GP100 fixed sights stainless, if I can find one.
I don't own a hunting handgun, although I've killed deer with my 1911. I think maybe a .41 mag 6" revolver, who knows if that even exists, but it would be cool.
Steve.

I would eat more Ice Cream

I would have stayed with ONE caliber.
Right now I have 9, 40, 45, 38, 357.

OH Well.

I'd buy the same guns and keep some of them that I sold/traded like the H & R Ultra .243 semi-automatic and my heavy frame S & W model 27 (or was it 28?) .357 mag with 10(?)" barrel. What a tack driver those two guns were!

Now it's just a Replica Colt Navy .44 blackpowder, a Ruger stainless synthetic 77 in .300 win and a Weatherby 12 gauge over/under (middle grade)

I would have wasted a lot less time and money on "exploring" handguns I have traded off. My next mistake in that category will be from not buying something that may truly be the next better mousetrap. For the conceivable future, if it is not a flavor of C&L capable ambi CZ 9mm, a 1911A1, or a quality DA revolver, I am done. No more flirting with handguns with questionable triggers, alien manuals of arms, or bad ergonomics.

If I could go back, I'd definitely not have passed on a Valmet made AK clone I had a line on before the import ban. I wouldn't have traded my deceased uncle's Python to my brother for my third 1911A1 (since, I acquired five more on my own.) I'd have bought that stainless Colt Magnum Carry I saw in '99. I'd have bought a CMP Garand or three a lot earlier. I wouldn't have waited so long to get a .357 Magnum lever action carbine. I'd have embraced wheelguns earlier.

Then again, without the mistakes, I wouldn't really know now what I like the most would I?

I wouldn't change much of anything in terms of purchases that I made. I have no problem selling off a gun that doesn't fit-in. It was fun learning about what you like and what you don't. For the most part, if I had it to do over again, I would have purchased many more Colts and started buying Class III weapons as investments. Everything I own, I want to keep for now.

When we came home from Egypt, my dad bought .22s for us. We chose 550A Remingtons. Our cousin also got one -- a bolt action. Dad said, "A bolt action is more accurate."

I should have listened, put the Remington back and looked for a Winchester Model 52.

Mr. Peabody, take me back in time!

Since 1988 I have purchased and sold over 70 handgun, rifles, and shotguns. If I had to do it over Hmmmm.

1. CZ-75SA 9mm (Yep no 1911's)

2. Remington 870 12 Gauge.

3. M1A Springfield .308

4. Kel-tec P32

I'd buy all the ones I have now. I wouldn't have bought the many other guns that came and went although I haven't owned a gun that I didn't learn something from for better or worse.

Over the years I have bought increasingly expensive guns because I could. Looking back if I could do it over again I would have bought the expensive guns even if it had required borrowing the money to do so. I'd have saved a lot of money not buying lesser quality guns only to be unsatified with them.

I would have gotten my GP100 with a 4" instead of 6.5" barrel. Of course, they I'd have had no reason to order the Smith 620....

Best,
Jeff
