The Illinois Senate is about to debate a ban on semi-automatic rifles and shotguns.

If passed, you would have 90 days to register your guns with the State Police or face arrest and felony prosecution.

If you were caught with an AR-15 and 4 magazines, you’d get life in prison.

THREE THINGS YOU MUST DO TO SAVE YOUR GUN RIGHTS

1. Beginning on Tuesday, March 6th, call your State Senator and POLITELY tell him or her that you are opposed to Senate Bill 16 – the Daley Assault Weapons Ban – and that you would like them to vote against Senate Bill 16 when it comes to the floor. If you do not know who your State Senator is, then visit the following web site: www.ilga.gov and then click on the “Legislator Lookup” link in the lower right hand corner of the home page. Follow the instructions at that link.

2. Pass this alert along to all your gun-owing friends; tell them to call their State Senators also.

3. Please post this alert to any and all Internet Bulleting Boards and Internet sites to which you belong.

IF YOU DO NOT ACT NOW, YOU MAY HAVE NO GUNS LEFT BY THE 4TH OF JULY

Called State Senator Radogno's Springfield office today and mailed a snail mail letter as well.

They are obviously trying to get this through before IGOLD (Illinois Gun Owners Lobby Day) next week.

I'm sure the gangbangers in Emil Jones district will immediately surrender all their handguns once this passes and stand in line to register all of their rifles.

Just talked to the office of my Senator, Mike Ferichs and they said it was still in committes and wouldnt see a Senate vote at this time. But either way, he has heard from me and they said I was not the first to call. He has said he will be a friend to the Illinois gun owners, we shall see. Jim.

I called my State Senator, Bill Peterson, and he confirmed he was against SB16. I knew he would be but thought it a good idea to let him know my position anyway.

Anyone know what `Referred to Rules` means?

"Referred to Rules"

Typically a "parking space" for legislation that they are not confident will pass if referred to a floor vote.

They can hold it in rules until an opportunity, with a quorum present, shows up and then run it out to the floor and pass it. Or include it in another "shell" bill with a totally unrelated purpose that they feel confident they can get passed.

It sounds like they know they are going to have a major floor fight on their hands and if it gets voted down they have to start the process all over again.

They still need the handful of surviving Republicans and the downstate Dems to get anything done, including Daley's school funding and the fat, no-bid contracts Blago gives his buddies.
