Reports are coming in that applications are changing from "under review" to "approved". Check yours today.

BTW - these first ones were instructors applied on 12/18.

No kidding. I've been waiting 45 years for this. Congrats to everybody who's doing the happy dance! I hope the rest of us are soon.

Larry too. :)

Yeah, it's amazing to me when people here in Illinois are shocked when they are told 400,000 people will apply the first year.

With me being one of them...classes are packed. I'm waiting until the Spring and the first applications are approved and folks actually get their permits and then I'm in!! :D

VooDoo

:D Afraid they are going to change their mind?? :D Well, this IS Illinois, but I don't think you are going to get closer to carry by waiting. Or are you going to file the paper form?

Super happy for you Illinois folks. That's good news. Its good to see that it hasn't been written off as a lost cause. Keep fighting the good fight.

The guys on illinoiscarry.com are still finding that they are moving from "under review" to "approved" as the afternoon goes on. The list is getting longer all the time.

Keep checking C0unter0, your time will come. :D Chin Up buddy :D

Late edit - they don't seem to be going in number. Perhaps there's hope for me- No. 55##.

Thanks Paul. When I saw this, I was overcome with a certain amount of excitement. We've waited a long time as second class citizens. I wish they'd went for constitutional carry, but this is Illinois and there is a limit to freedom..............

Waiting for them to mail me my license !!!

No one can figure out what order they're doing it in.

I have had people with higher numbers than me get their permit. People from counties that are further along in the alphabet than mine, first and last names further down the alphabet than mine...

I just got approved.

It happened sometime between 5:15 p.m. CST and 8:36 p.m. CST

I wonder how long until 'approved' turns into 'permit sent and in hand', though? I keep suspecting the ISP won't allow CCW a single day before required by statute...

See what happens when you listen to old geezers? Oh wait a minute, I'm a geezer. Ahhh, the wisdom that comes by age and sensitivity.

I didn't submit prints with mine, so I don't expect to see mine one day early.

So I'd get approved May 5th.
You have a choice? That's great, I wouldn't want to give them any more than absolutely necessary either.

I'm very happy for you folks in IL. It may take several years but I bet the crime rate will drop overall if a large number of people get their permits (and use them). Probably not by much, but even a little bit would be a good example for the rest of the country.
And hopefully the latest ruling by the federal judge about outlawing gun shops in Chicago being unconstitutional will stick.

That is surprising that you guys have a choice. Here in Arkansas, which I consider to be fairly gun-friendly, we must submit a fingerprint card with the application to the State Police. It used to be 2 fingerprint cards and they recently changed it.

I probably would submit them anyway. I worked for a large security company that had a lot of federal contracts so I'm in the system anyway. One more card on me is nothing I assure you. Anything to make the process faster. I put my SSN# on the paperwork when purchasing (before I got my CHL and don't have to make the call that is).

Arkansas Paul - does putting your SSN speed up a form in your area? Here it doesn't make a difference and no one puts it on their forms (4473). Of course it only takes 5 minutes at my LGS anyways.

if you submit fingerprints it has to be done electronically and that costs about $65 typically.

there is no reason to believe it will make the process go any faster, so I see no reason to pay the extra money.

My IL Concealed carry application was approved today after 34 days. (Submitted December 18th).
