12/18/2013 and yes, fingerprints went in, since I'm an instructor

72 of 90 days elapsed, 80% of the max they're allowed.

CHICAGO – Illinois State Police today announced that 5,000 Concealed Carry License (CCL) applications have been approved and are ready to be printed and mailed. The department will begin mailing the licenses and will continue to issue licenses as they are approved. Concealed Carry Licenses will be printed and mailed on a daily basis.

(Makes me wish they had a "I'LL COME PICK IT UP!!!!" check box on the app. I'm 45 mins from Springfield and would love the option of driving there to pick up in person TODAY.)

:)

Before us is the absolute proof that hell did indeed freeze over in IL.

I did not submit prints. I am glad the permits are starting to come out now and I will wait to see if I go the full 120 days or if they shave some time off of the non-printed aps as well.

So far I haven't heard of anyone without prints getting approved, but it probably won't be long before we know the answer to that question.

If they DID go in the mail today, there is a remote possibility my permit might arrive in the mail tomorrow. We're pretty dang close to Springfield. We still get Saturday delivery until (at least) 2017 thanks to the Federal Government's intervention. ;)

Crossing fingers.

Sweet Sweet Approval

I was approved yesterday. My application number was just under 15,000, and I did submit finger prints.

Add me to the list of Illinoisans who will be checking the mailbox with zeal.

Several people have their IL CCL in hand today! Posted over at IC forums.

A few made the approved list without submitting prints, also.

Since Trent got his in 76 days, it could be that I will see mine in 106 days, since I didn't send prints.
It could also be less if the ISP is getting better at the process with time. I heard they think they will shave it down to as little as 45 days eventually.
I assume that was 45 for prints and 75 for without.
Anyway, congrats to all who have finally gotten something that I had at one point believed would never happen in IL.

Some people who applied on 1/5 without prints have already been approved wildbill.

Congrats Trent. I dont have access to my account to check the status but I shouldn't be too far behind.

Edit: I don't have computer access to check it, the account itself is accessible so far as I know.

You know, for this being the first day I could carry a gun out in public, it was kind of a let down.

Waited all my life for this.

And what do I do?

Put the gun on, go to the gas station, go to work, and come home.

THERE WASN'T EVEN ANY DAMN THEME MUSIC WHEN I WALKED OUTSIDE.

;)

NEVER count on there being theme music; always bring your own. :)

Congrats, Trent!

Sweet! The best part? Nothing bad happened - it was a day like every other day and you exercised a fundamental human right that has been denied us for many years...so much for the "doom and gloom" folks who figure if citizens are armed it will immediately de evolve into gun fights in the street.

I'm so happy fer you guys...well done and Thank You for being focused and following thru on getting yer CCL here in Illinois. This is a very good day....

VooDoo

Trent, are you saying that you didn't run right out and mimic the hoplophobic stereotype by going out and driving your car on two wheels, blasting your gun out the car window, yelling "YEEEEHAAAAAW", and then go commit a mass shooting, all because you got a CCL (AKA hunting license) from the government?:)
