Jeannie Ives, Rauner's primary opponent has just recalled her support of Sam McCann. That could net Rauner as much as 6% of the vote if her followers also abandon McCann. Meanwhile, JB has 14 of his campaign staff suing his campaign for racist behavior. Maybe Rauner has a chance after all!

Actually, I am trying to keep it on track. From my perspective, Illinois readers who are also gun owners need to understands the threat this election poses to them and their 2A rights. Part of the complication is a third party candidate who, on first glance, seems like a good choice for 2A supporters, but in fact is in the race to divert votes from the individual who would veto most anti gun legislation and has some chance of actually winning. Many readers likely voted differently in the primary and may not know the person they voted for in the primary has recently changed their stance regarding the third party candidate.

I know it is complicated, but if Illinois elects JB Pritzker as Governor, he has vowed to destroy the NRA in Illinois and eliminate gun ownership in Illinois in any way he can without running afoul of SCOTUS. That is one of the reasons he is advocating for using taxes to eliminate gun ownership. While that may or may not be constitutional it will take years of court battles to get the issue in front of the Supreme Court and meanwhile the gun culture in Illinois will wither and may be almost dead by the time any hoped for relief happens.

To me, this is a straight forward 2A issue. Am I wrong?

Well JB got elected. Dark times ahead. I believe the Progressives are going to make Illinois ground zero for the most draconian gun laws, may make California look good(for now). SCOTUS will be the only legal hope. Get your Cosmoline and VCI wrap ready.
