So far, at least as far as non-magnum handgun calibers go, I have been using Clays exclusively for both .38 Spl. and .45 ACP (3.8 grs. of Clays under a 200 gr. LRNFP bullet is quite the tackdriver), and I'll probably use it for 9mm too, if/when I get around to reloading that caliber.

Why? Because it works (it's accurate) and I don't have to mess with changing powders in the hopper. Do you have a favorite powder you stick with for handgun calibers, or do you sample other brands?

P.S. For .357 Mag., I use 2400, but I haven't loaded any of that round for a long time.

Me Too

I use AA#2 Improved for all my 9mm firearms.
I only use "ball type" powders that allow me to throw all powder charges. (I don't have a progressive)
I use WC846 for 3 different rifle caliber loads.
I only use one weight bullet for hunting loads. (rifle)
I only use one weight bullet for practise loads. (rifle)
I load the same 115 grain bullet for all 9mm usage. (pistol and carbine)
I buy in bulk and stick with the same components.
I only now buy certain primers.

My motto the last 5 years or so is KISS

I like to keep things simple, I only use VihtaVouri N-320 powder for all my handgun loads.

I too, have a favorite for most handgun loads. HS-6.

You may find, as I did, that in the 9MM, you get excessive pressure before you get reliable functioning with Clays. Clays is mighty fast burning for a high pressure crtridge like the 9MM.

If it works for you, use it. But be extra careful with something that fast burning.

Thanks for the heads up, cheygriz. I'll keep that in mind IF I end up reloading for the 9mm. At first, I was going to reload for the 9 to feed my Glock 26, but I may wait a while on that now. I'm going to save my money for a shooting school later this year.

not me I like to complicate things in my life ( like it isn't already ) i have to change out powders for different loads all the time so it doesn't bother me that much

I'm lazy too. I use a different powder for each caliber I load but I have a different powder measure for each. :)

I try to use the same powder for as many calibers as possible. WW 231 works really well for 380, 9mm, 38, 357, 40, and 45ACP as long as we are talking about target loads. all that needs to be changed is the quantity. For factory duplication loads in 357, 40, 45acp, and all 44 magfnums I really like Bluedot. The pressures never seem to be excessive and a bonus for me is the pyrotechnic display Bluedot produces. ( If you miss the BG he will still be blind for a while.

The older i get the more i like to keep things simple, after my unique is gone all i'll be using will be titegroup.I used to load different powders for each caliber;AA-2 for 9mm,AA-5 for 38spl,A-7 or HS-6 for 357 and 231 for 45acp.
