So my older brother has been visiting from out of town and we managed to get out to the range a few times...

Third time out was "AR day" and needless to say he was smilin' from ear to ear when we were done.

So I stopped by to see him off last night, and he's got this sheepish grin on is face and waves me over to his truck tailgate.......

Ah yup.... he made a road trip up to Cabelas "to see the taxidermy and get some ammo" .... and comes home with a brandy new Windham Weaponry flat top carbine.

He's been sitting on a couple stripped lowers for years and has been meaning to do a build.... but I guess he couldn't wait any longer.

I told him I was not taking the heat for this when his wife found out ;)

Good deal, another joined our ranks. Cabella's is really high in my area, for a Stag Arms AR-15 model 2 I think they're around $900 to my local shop's $780.

He's been an avid shooter and reloader for years... just never got around to the "dark side"

Sounds like they were having a pretty good sale... I think he paid ~$700, but I didn't want to ask him in front of my SIL

That's why you practice so it's just automatic 'I traded for it' :D

They have the Windham's on sale right now for about $800. I've been eyeballing one myself. That company used to make Bushmasters before they sold the name, back when Bushmaster used to be a generally respectable name.

Actually how it happened was Bushmaster closed the plant laying off all the workers, it was bought and reopened as Windham Weaponry and they hired many of those workers back (which is good on them although I'm sure it was because there was much less training that way).
