I'm gonna try one of these on my M-1

Well

The ad says that the blue NON-Fire model garand is not for sale, so, I think it is safe to assume that no one did that to a real Garand.

I laid one in recently with the CMP markings on it. Will probably go with a Leupold or Burris Scout scope in the 2.5-2.75 power range (and QR lever rings).
Roland Beaver, fairly noted Garandsmith, recommends the Burris as having more adjustment range.

Everything I have seen on the Amega mount has been favorable to date.

I just hate to quit using the irons as the Garand is such a classic that way. Unfortunately my eyeballs aren't quite as well suited to them anymore. Darn it.

I have an Eotech on one of those scout mounts on my Garand -- works great. What is really nice about the holographic sights is that cheek position on the stock doesn't make any difference. And the 1 MOA dot is small enough for good accuracy at 200 yds.

yeah, but your taking off a piece of walnut that has traveled the world protecting freedom:D
I would love to mount one on an M1, but just can't bring myself to do it. If I get to the point that I can't shoot with uncle sams sighting system any longer, I may just have to. I will say that the front sight on my M4 is much easier to see than the front sight on my M1 so I might not be too far from taking a beautiful piece of walnut off myself

He's not doing any permanent damage to his Garand, so no need to call out the Bubba police.

A similar treatment on my Rock Ola M1 Carbine has worked out well:
