1911 vs P220 - Sig vs Kimber

About a month and a half ago I went the gun store, pointed to the Kimber TLE and said, "I'll take it." VA is a one gun per 30 calendar days State, and I had just bought a Kel-Tec P3AT a couple weeks before that, so I couldn't take the Kimber home that day. Now a few days after I paid for the Kimber, I decided I'd rather have a Sig P220ST. So, I go back to the gun store and they kindly credit me for the TLE, then special order me a P220ST. I had to then go to the State Police to get a special permit so I could take the Sig home when the store got it. I worked all that out, got the Sig home and then out to the range. I was shooting the Sig and my Kimber CDP, and I realized maybe I really should have stayed with the 1911 instead of the P220. Don't get me wrong, the P220ST completely impressed me; it is a superb weapon. It feels great, shoots well, no flaws, hiccups, etc. Well anyway, I can't stop thinking I should've stuck with the 1911, so now I'm probably going to part with the P220ST. Since this all started, the Sig GSR has now begun to appear in public. So, I'm back to looking for a 1911, and I'm stuck between Kimber and Sig. My CDP is awesome, and Kimbers are generally pretty well thought of, with a few exceptions here and there, but Sigs are... well Sigs. That usually says it all. But, the GSR is new, so I'm a little anxious about investing in one. I found a guy who seems to be interested in trading his GSR for my P220ST (plus some of my cash), so I'm wondering if that isn't the best solution.:banghead:

Maybe I should just sell all my guns, move to CA and join Diane Feinstein and her liberal, communist, anti-gun crowd.:what: Then I won't have to be bothered with changing my mind every other day about which gun I want.;)

Well, when it comes to the SIG P220 - it is considered by the majority of shooters out there to be THE double action .45, where the 1911 is THE .45.
So take some comfort in having the top rungs on the .45 Ladder.
The P220 is different... different location of levers, different sights (if you have the Bar and Dot standards) and a different trigger system... In this case, Different is Good.
You wont gain anything going to the GSR... other than smoothing out the differences. You wont lose anything either.

A few folks would argue that while the P-220 is a very nice gun, the CZ-97B gives it a lot of competition.

The SIG may still be the finest (I don't know...), but I would argue that it is NOT the finest BY FAR. By a little, maybe. Just maybe.

(I've had both, and think it a toss-up, with the edge going to the SIG because of SIZE only... and that's an issue only if you plan to carry concealed.)

Try carrying the SIG cocked and locked. <chuckle>

Thanks all... I wholeheartedly agree :D

Unfortunately, I've reached that "the grass MUST be greener on the other side" stage, so I frequently waffle about which guns I want to buy and use.

Fortunately, I've reached a deal to trade my P220ST and some cash for the GSR. He bought the GSR and decided he wanted a P220ST, and I bought a P220ST and decided I wanted a GSR. Lucky for us we worked an equitable trade and no one lost any money in the deal (unlike if we'd gone to a gun store to trade).

Now, there's still that Kimber Ultra CDP I've been drooling over... :)

I waffle every dang time I buy a gun, get used to it, it doesn't get any better. There are so many choices in pistols, it's hard not to want em all.

The only hangun I have bought that I didn't waffle over was a BHP.

;)

Brad, you are turning into such a gun slut...just try them out side by side and stick with what works for you. Or buy both and be done with it. Just be sure to bury the expense into something so the wife doesn't find out.

Longbow, BUL Transmark is gone. Daly is importing them now. I own two original BUL's and now I'm a-scared to shoot them for fear they will increase in value, or if a shooting occurs the cops would most surely impound. Kiss that gun goodbye. So I'm looking for a decent, cheap carry .45 again.

Check out http://www.charlesdaly.com

They have the BUL M5 Ultra-X. I've been trying to get one to replace my originals for carry, but just found out a couple weeks ago they have been stuck in import thanks to being so small? (Well that's Daly's story). BATF is holding them up. Best guess 4th quarter 2004.

Anybody bought one of these new Daly M5's yet? Or shot one of the Daly single stacks?

I'd take a BUL over a Kimber any day, (Even though Transmark made the polymer lowers for Kimber, so they're the same gun right?). Or a Springfield over a Kimber for that matter. Kimber is too over-rated for the price....
