VCDL has just warned members that because of a backlog by State Police of entering Concealed Handgun Permit (CHP) data from County Clerks into the Virginia Criminal Information Network (VCIN), some legitimate CHP holders have been arrested when a Trooper gets a negative response from VCIN during a stop.

Quoting VCDL President Phil Van Cleave:
"Supposedly the VCIN system puts up a message warning officer's that it's data is not to be blindly trusted, but I'm hearing some officers are doing so anyway and there have been arrests. ...
IF YOU HAVE BEEN **FALSELY** ARRESTED FOR AN INVALID OR EXPIRED CHP, OR KNOW SOMEONE WHO HAS, VCDL NEEDS THE DETAILS! ...
They can contact me, Philip Van Cleave, at [email protected] or by calling 804-639-0600."

Reminder: fewer than 10% of VA CHP holders are VCDL members. If you are a gun owner in Virginia, and especially a CHP holder, please join VCDL. Receiving VCDL Update newsletters does not mean you are a member.
